I need to find some of the foam stem protectors that wine glasses and such are often shipped with but I'll be damned if I can figure out what they are called to find a supplier. Anyone know what the "official" name of these things are?

We've always used foam pouches. Various sizes, about 35 cents each in bulk. Still have a bunch left over from my china-selling days.

I'd love to go the easy route but these are about the only thing my mother has asked for for Christmas. They are generally blue foam tubes with a slit on one side that allows the onto "snap" over the stem.
I bought her a set of antique crystal glasses for her bar in the new house and seem to have succeeeded in creating a paranoid monster.

OK your gonna think this is silly but it will work...go to your hardware store like Lowe's to the plumbing section and look at foam pipe insulation...cut to size. They already have the slit running down the side to put them around the stem.Heres a site with what they look like.I think you can get them in different colors.
