Staples recommended Panda as they said it found viruses that a couple of other popular ones did not find. At this time I have free Avg (Adware) viruscan which I downloaded off the net from www.freegrisoft.com. upon recommendation of a pc guy. When I scanned my pc it found zafi.b severe virus and said I needed to register to have it cleaned for a one time fee of $29.99. I did not know whether
Would anyone recommend one of these or maybe another type please.

Personally, I like NORTON AV, although Ralphie prefers TREND MICRO PC-CILLAN -- so, either of those two are GREAT!
I will NEVER, EVER use ANY program from CRAP-AFEE -- total TRASH...
All the others (such as F-SECURE; PANDA; etc) I know little about...

Mary Landesman writes in the August 2005 PC World Magazine: "We tested new versions of three anti-spyware apps and like them, but an old favorite stands out. I looked at new installments of three anti-spyware applications: a prerelease version of Sunbelt Software's CounterSpy 1.5, plus shipping versions of Webroot's Spy Sweeper 4 and FBM Software's ZeroSpyware 2005.
CounterSpy's DNR (Do Not Resuscitate) technology sounded particularly interesting. While both Spy Sweeper and ZeroSpyware put in a good showing, CounterSpy continues to impress me the most. Add to that its unobtrusive alerts and its $20 price
(including one year of updates and online tech support), and CounterSpy is a clear winner."

I'm with Tom. I use Norton as a routine & hotmail uses Trend, so I am pretty safe.

My brother has used Panda and he has had his computer in the shop more time than I can count. Someone told him to quit using them. He gets tons of spyware that adaware and spybot never pick up, I don't know where that comes from.

Yes, downloaded from SYMANTIC site, along with yearly VIRUS DEFs subscriptions -- never a problemo with IE...
