I have a pretty (but unpolished) rectangular sterling dish with strange markings that I cant seem to identify. I've looked thru the online encyclopedia of American Silver Marks but cant find anything similar. Its even hard to say what the marks are...the first one could be an ornate E followed closely by a 2, or it could be a bird or seal. This is so frustrating!! If no-one is able to identify it, could you please tell me where else to look??? Thanks so much Marian

Thank you so much for both the picture help and the ID. I never would have thought that to be a lion or a G!!!. How does the old saying go??? Your kindness is exceded only by your beauty and grace (and hopefully good fortune.) Thank you both.... Marian

To be honest, if I hadn't sold some Gorham a while back, I probably wouldn't have recognized it either.

Now regarding your compliment, if my beauty exceeds my kindness, I have to go find a kitten to kick

You're very welcome. I've gotten quite a bit of help on this board, and am glad when I can re-pay a fraction of the benefit I've received.
