A 28" wide shower??? What the hell you planning to wash in that thing, parking meters?? You sure aren't gonna fit a person in there. Oh, I get it. It's for guests that you don't want to get too comfortable and stay very long. Great idea Jack. Be sure to make 'em sleep on a hidabed too. One of those with a 2" thick mattress and the cross bar that hits 'em right in the butt. They never stay more than one night when they have to sleep on one of those torture racks. And don't forget the toilet seat that has the refrigerator coils embedded in it. Guaranteed to get rid of the worst of the spongers.

I wasn't aware they used those 28" enclosures for showers in Southern California. Up here, they put them in front of liquor stores, paint them blue and install pay phones in them.

Jack - Why not just purchase a base, a good supply of caulk and some fiberglass and make your own? You seem to be a handy enough guy. Also, instead of searching for "Shower Stall" try looking under "Shower Walls". Instead of a one piece unit the base is seperate from the stall walls so getting the wall unit in small door ways is a hell of a lot easier.
You might want to check into one of these new companies that popped up with the house flipping craze. Rather than having to completely renovate a bathroom they created fiberglass units that basically "snap" over exiting tile. No reason you can't snap the cover over plywood and insulation board instead and I get the feeling that if you can find one of these companies you won't have too much trouble charming/bartering them out of some of the material.

28" is probably a stand size for older mobile homes and RV's. I've run into that before in trying to locate a replacement sink.
Jack check out google for some good info on DIY shower stalls.

Wow! I am Soooooooo glad I posted this here! You guys are FAR superior to the responses I got on Craigslist. The mobile home shower thought! I am gonna hit the Automobile Junk yards! Mobile homes and Motorhomes! Matter of Fact,,,,there are Mobile home builders out in the Ontario Cal. Area. Perhaps a Damaged one? One day drivng the freeway after a HUGE wind storm I saw Hundreds of Brand NEW Mobile homes on their sides, destroyed! Yehaaaaaa! Thanks ALL!!!!!

Jack - if you don't score in the salvage yards, try putting some calls into bathroom remodelers. Let them know you are in the market for a used showerwall enclosure. Maybe you'll luck out and find someone in the process of tearing one out or someone that you, who just can't justify throwing out perfectly good used enclosure.
