Some spanky keeps sending me an IRS W-9 Form:

"Request for Taxpayer ID Number & Certification"

WTF???

I mught give out Ralphie's SSN, but I sure as hell don't give out MINE!

Has this ever been requested of anybody here??

If it was important, they should have asked before purchasing & I would have politely said: "bioya"

I need this kind of kaka-poohpooh about as much as I need a return visit from a KIDNEY STONE!

Tell him that under normal circumstances you would be happy to help him out, but since you are a member of a Middle Eastern group in this country illegally, you are keeping a low profile and not filling out government forms.

Tell them you are a member of the MAFIA and government issues are of no interest to you.

Just write him back and tell him that The IRS W-9 form is not for commercial transactions of this type.

http://64.233.187.104/search?q=cache:QX6NOORkjfgJ:www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/fw9.pdf+irs+w9&hl=en

The W-9 is for Withholding Income taxes. "What is backup withholding? Persons making certainpayments to you must under certain conditions withhold andpay to the IRS 28% of such payments (after December 31,2002). This is called “backup withholding.” Payments thatmay be subject to backup withholding include interest, dividends, broker and barter exchange transactions, rents, royalties, nonemployee pay, and certain payments fromfishing boat operators. Real estate transactions are notsubject to backup withholding"

Sounds to me like you need to notify Ebay that a buyer is asking for such information. I smell a serious scam.

Write him back and tell him you are with the IRS and you need his SS number in order to make certain you have the right so&so in order to start an audit of his affairs to make certain he is putting full use of the SSNs he is collecting.
Put a bug in his a$$ for a change.

Don't forget to ask him for his SSN so that you can be sure he files his state taxes for the item purchased. When's the full moon?

BIOYA seems like an appropriate response even now.
