I'm selling a book on muzzle-loaders (guns). Ebay won't let me list, saying there may be "improper words" in the auction. What specifically would you eliminate in order to sell this on Ebay?--
"The Home Guide to Muzzle Loaders, from the library of a survivalist, brings the growing sport of shooting and hunting with muzzle loading guns right up-to-date. This illustrated fact-finder has all the information about antique, replica and modern black powder guns, care, use, ammunition, and ballistics.<p>
Historial background to tools and methods of early gunsmiths, step-by-step details for building a black powder gun, and "how-to" techniques for restoring the antique muzzle loader without depreciating its value. Make-it-yourself instructions for powder flasks and horns, hunting bags and other accessories.<p>
HOME GUIDE TO MUZZLE LOADERS, by George C. Nonte, Jr., pub. 1974 by Stackpole Books, Harrisburg PA. Big book with VG covers, tight spine, 219 pages clean and bright, and lavishly illustrated.<p>"

It would be something in the title that their filters are rejecting. Jackswebb had the same type of problem trying to list a magazine from an M-16 or something similar. Ebay is very touchy about anything to do with guns. You might try listing it in a lingere category and then moving it into the sporting goods category.

Thanks, Lucy! I see that I tried to get too specific. I'll take out a lot of the verbiage and will try again.
Sparkz, as last resort, I will list in lingerie and see what happens, LOL.

Ltray...I once sold an authentic WW1 bomb on Ebay. I took great pains to explain in the description that it had been rendered inert by the military and was marked as such. Surprisingly, the auction didn't get nuked and the bomb sold for a good price. Those were the good old days when Ebay employed people with brains instead of relying on buggy software.

I don't see anything wrong with your description. They are funny about weapons though and I have had a couple of auctions pulled before for no apparent reason. As far as selling M16 parts, that is a BIG NO NO on ebay. They do not allow the sale of any parts or even accessories for machine guns at all. You can also not sell high capacity magazines either. I tried selling a US Army surplus M16 bipod once. It's just a little spring loaded two leg stand that clamps on the barrel for support when shooting and they yanked it. I was informed that if I removed any reference to it being a M16 accessory it was allowed. Relisted it without the M16 and it went fine. They may have their head's up their back sides so far they can not see any light most of the time but I don't blame them for being very strict on weapons policy. In today's day and age they are just covering their butt's. I just made a decision that any time I want to buy or sell a gun related item I just buy and sell on gunbroker.com. Nice auction site dedicated to guns and accessories. Over the years I have bought 12 rifles, 6 pistols, 3 machine guns, 2 sub machine guns, currently awaiting my BATF automatic weapons tax stamp for a 3rd sub machine gun and sold 8 various guns on gunbroker.com and all were very easy transactions. It's a must go to online auction site for any gun nut

Hey if anyone is into guns just come here to Tulsa about once a month all year long. They have gun and knife shows here like crazy. Everytime we look up there'a a sign for another gun show. I have never seen a city so "gung ho" on these shows. We never go because guns are not our thing. Now if they did car shows like they did gun shows that would be a different story.

You might try posting the text in an image if you just have to have the text there it won't pick up on search. But they have your number now so even in image form they might yank it if you leave instructions for building gun in text. Well good luck. Anyone looking for such a book will know what it is about or can find out in other sources if you leave text out about building black powder gun instructions. As for that the word instructions on horn flask etc change the wording to maybe just the word "Make" or "model"(A preliminary work or construction that serves as a plan from which a final product is to be made:
Or better yet say it is an owners manual for all things black powder?

I like the "owner's manual for all things black powder"!
Thanks, y'all, for your suggestions. I've done major revision to the description and will try to launch the auction tonight. All this work for a $4 book!
