eBay University - Coming to Charlotte, NC on Saturday, January 28th

It has been here before, I have never been, Have any of you?
I would attend the advance beyond the basic , if I go.
I have a friend who wants to go and we could split the fee (friend can attend free)

Anyone went? is it a waste of time?

Ebay will just walk you through all their features which run up your bill-like gallery picture,10 days listing, bold letters, gift?,second title, second category, etc etc.

I agree with hwahwa that it's probably more of a ebay sales pitch to get you to use their higher priced listing upgrades. I have never been to one and don't plan on it either.

Time is better spent here where questions are answered & information given on just about anything you want to know about selling on eBay.

I have been selling on eBay seven years, I figure that it would be a waste.
As I said a friend (who is thinking about starting selling on eBay) mentioned they wanted to go.
She is always asking me how to get started so I had entertained going to get some peace (really)

I thought if any on this BB had attented I could find some fragment motivating reason to go.

I emailed my friend a few minutes ago ,I told her thought it might be helpful for her but I just didn't have time to go with her.

I dont know what you sell but there is a guy who owns a brick and mortar electronic shop and sell on Ebay.
Ebay spotted him and coached him how to sell better(not thru university),and he has since closed his shop and sell exclusively on Ebay with a special staff who are Ebay and PC literate.
I know there are toy sellers who are briefed by Ebay as to what is hot for xmas ,same reason.

Friends who spent 2.5 days with me learning to sell on eBay (good friends, I must add; I'd never do that for just anybody) went back home and later attended eBay university. They said it was a big waste of time and money.

However, if someone has money to burn and is just starting out, it may be helpful.

You would be better to invest your money in E-Gold

As I said I am not going ...I was just asking if anybody on this VD BB had been?

I really do not feel it would enhance my knowledge, but it MIGHT be helpful for those who want to get started. I do not have time to tutor or get people started.

I am going to recommend it as an avenue for friends who have asked me to help them get started. I know it sounds selfish but I just do not have time.

Am I the only one who gets this from their friends or even people they hardly know?
eg - Would you mind helping me get started? where do you buy things to sell? How much do you make?

I am very busy with quarterly reports and getting W2s out this month.

Not sure it's worth the time but yes! If people are pushing you for a free education you are not able to afford, eBay University is an excellent recommendation to them!

For first time novices, not a bad investment of time/money (if nothing else, opportunities for networking)

For anyone else, your time is better spent otherwise. Based on seminars at one eBay Live (really just wanted to go to NO and write off the trip), you will get only so much boilerplate and if you're annoyed with Live Help's "help" -- well, enough said?
JMHO.

I just had my 8th Anniversery (1/14) on eBay. I may not know everything there is to knowm but I don't think they can give enough info for me to spend money on it.

A friend invited me to go with her. What a waste of time. I dozed on and off. Finally we had a break and I left all the stuff they give you, (notebook, booklets a pen and that sort of stuff) on my chair to hold my place. When we returned my chair was there waiting, but all the stuff was gone. My friend went up to tell them what happened and they gave her a hard time about replacing the stuff, though finally did.
We just stayed about a half hour after that, and then left. I can't recommend it.
