I have a good friend that has sold 6 medium and heavy duty trucks on ebay motors and on everyone he got thousands more than he would have gotten if he had sold it localy. He has also sold a couple of Harley Davidson motor cycles on ebay motors and he was alway's happy with the final price.

The whole key to selling vehicles on ebay motors is pictures, pictures, pictures and a very detailed description. If there is the slightest scratch, mention it.

I have also seen pages and pages of recent model cars not meeting reserves,we are not talking Kia or Chevy,we are talking Honda Accord and Toyota Camry

Depends on the vehicle. I have had good luck selling 3 old cars from the 60's on eBay and they did very well. If you just want to sell the tired family sedan try local venues 1st. Ebay motors shoppers appear to be shopping for antique / collector cars, vehicles that are not easily found where they live, or something really nice really cheap!

Thanks for the replies, as I suspected not a good idea, it is a pickup truck, good condition but not really old or collectible.

Thanks again.

Ron, I don't know if I'd be so quick to jettison the idea.

I have a 1994 Saturn SC2 I need to dispose of as part of my Get-It-Outta-Here project. There's a 1995 that's gotten 25 bids so far -- and it's certainly not a collectible car.

Link is way too long to post here but the auction number is 4606234037.

Three years ago, I bought a 1995 Volvo across country on eBay motors. Very positive experience for both me and the seller. Regional prices vary so much that eBay makes sense - tends to even the playing field for both buyer and seller.

Selling on Ebay Motors was good for me.

I sold 4 antique Cars, Pick up truck and also sold newer cars like 1995 VW, 1990 Buick, All the cars I sold I was happy with the ending price, but I suggest you start your price where you would feel comfortable if only one person bids and wins.

If the car needs to be shipped that's not a problem you can make all the arrangements over the phone with the shipping co.

People came from other states to pick up the cars that I sold so it was easy. And let them know if they are picking the car up you need cash on pickup, or cert. Bank Check, but don't mention cash in your listing.

Our sales department here insists on listing on ebay motors. But, time after time, they get burned. The deadbeat rate for autos is over 80%. That means they lose $40 right off the top on 80% not to mention another $40 for FVF's plus any listing upgrades that are not refundable. You will find that every bottom feeder will place bids on your truck just for the sake of bidding. You can save yourself a lot of money and anguish.

You will be much better off listing on autotrader.com or carsoup.com
