I'm selling a lot of gadgets and gizmos for a man who's left the country. There's a watch, nice one, with a little booklet I can't read so I don't know what I'm selling. I'll post some pictures here. The first is the first page of the tiny booklet:

Made in Moscow around 1984 (ring a bell anyone?) Cheap Russian copy of a Chinese copy of a Japanese copy of a Swiss watch.

Sorry comrades, but with the cold war over my Belorusski is rusty. But my Chinese & Farsi is still okay.

I'd have to type the words in, and I don't have Russian capability - I think. (Never tried to find it on my computer but perhaps I'll look.)

Roadsmith, can you give us a pic of the back?

I'm beginning to know more about Russian watches than I ever cared to know

There actually are a few of them worth some money.

amedovoy (ebay user ID) sells russian watchs on ebay and is a fellow Vendio user from the looks of their listings. You may want to drop them a line and ask them. Here's one of their store items http://tinyurl.com/8emqy and their website http://www.russiantimepieces.com/catalog/default.php . Might be worth droping them a line and asking.

Here's Poljot's website. This is the aviator watch page. http://www.poljotwatch.com/page/PW/CTGY/Aviator

If this is a real Poljot it may have some value.

Glassgrl: That's the hand for the left little dial--LtRay mentioned it earlier here. It would have to be reinstalled.

Roadsmith, that was exactly what I suspected

It might behoove you to ask a good watch man about this watch. Could be valuable.

Unfortunately, as Agit mentioned, they were copied as much as the Rolex in the 1980's, so it would take someone in the know to tell you if it is real or a fake.

Here is an interesting history site
http://poljot-times.com/poljot_watches_history.shtml
http://www.aviator-watch.com/html_general_infos/history.htm

The Red Star emblem and name are found on the Buran watches.

Just found what appears to be an excellent watch site. You might want to ask here:

Good luck and let us know how you do with it.
