Why when I revise an item do I get a page that pops up congratulating me? Why are congratulations in order for this? Is it because I actually was able to figure out how to navigate their site to do this?

I just laugh whenever I see this. It seems dumb to me that Ebay congratulates you for revising your item.

Ebay does all sorts of things that are agrivating but what things have you noticed that they do that are just plain dumb and not just agravating??

The average 12-year old child likes to be encouraged at every step. It's part of the dumbing down of the USA.

Hmm, what has ebay done lately that was dumb? I think it would be easier to ask "What has ebay done in the last few years that wasn't dumb?".

They say your memory's the second thing to go, I just can't remember what the first thing is.

Dumb Item #2. Congratulating me when I've left feedback (instead of acknowledging it as before, and giving the buyer's e-mail address in the acknowledgment).

Congratulations! You NEARLY made it a grammatical sentence. Good for you! Try just a little bit harder next time.

Claude

PS I don't know of any history between you two, but could you please take it outside?

Until someone pokes an eye out.

DTTED (Dumb Thing That eBay Did):

Revised the feedback system so that it would SEEM to have been improved but in fact is not.

i.e. If your deadbeat bidder keeps responding during the Unpaid Item process, she can *still* leave you negative feedback and have it stand, even if she never pays you.

Think that's rare? Hah. Every deadbeat I've had since the changeover happily logs their 2 cents ("Sent check on 1/05/06, never cashed" ) and thus have eBay's full blessing for the blistering neg they ultimately leave.

Dumb-de-dumb-dumb.

Fluff - Does this mean as long as they respond ONCE it counts?

I've got one right now and according to him, the check is in the mail and he just can't understand why I haven't received it.

That's the way I read the policy.

If I'm wrong, someone please correct me.

Here's the relevant passage:

--
When a buyer does not respond to an Unpaid Item notification and the seller issues an Unpaid Item strike against them, the buyer can still leave a feedback comment, but the feedback rating they leave for the transaction will not appear and will not count toward the seller’s feedback score.

An eBay administrative note will appear under the feedback comment, explaining that the member did not participate in the Unpaid Item process.

Buyers should always respond to disputes opened within the Unpaid Item process. If you have resolved the situation outside of this process (for example, by making a payment by phone or email), please go back to the Dispute Console to enter a comment. Otherwise, you may lose your feedback privileges for that transaction.
--

Looks to me like one response is all that's required of the deadbeat.

After reading that, definitely sounds like one response would qualify as participation on the buyer's part thus leaving them free to neg away.

Ridiculous.

Isn't that just as bad a getting the stupid negative red mark. Now you get a flag telling others that there was trouble. Not much of a system either way.
