Pixiamom and I have learned that our 18 year old nephew and three of his friends were killed in a senseless automobile accident last night. We are, as you can imagine, heartbroken. Our family is very close, though my brother is in NC, I'm in MN and Pixiamom, another sister and Mom are in Oregon. We have yet to learn the details of this horrific accident but it is evident that the boys were driving recklessly and lost control of the vehicle.
All of you with teenaged children and loved ones, PLEASE take time to remind them that they are NOT invincible and that they MUST make good decisions about their driving and in choosing to ride in cars with others who are likey to make the right choices. And while you are at it, give them a hug.

I am very sorry to hear this. Certainly it is a time to be more aware of what can happen to your loved ones. The message to drive safely, though seldom heeded, is a good one.
I don't understand why parents hand young drivers the keys to new, powerful sports cars that in so many cases they don't have the skills, experience or maturity to handle. I guess I will never understand that.

I am sorry to hear about this, how horrible. When I was 16 and got my license, my parents would not let me drive with any friends in the car. I thought at the time they were being cruel and unresonable, but of course now 22 years later I totally agree with what they did.
