Nearly everyday for the past week I have been the lucky recipient of a PayPal "Notice of Payment" sent using my husband's real name.
This is very odd because the ebay information on file is in MY name - PayPal is in hubby's because it was set up before I started selling.
Is this an inside job? HOW did they get the name?
The notice is totally bogus showing a payment for an xbox and shipment to another person and address. Of course my account shows no such payment being made.

Neglus, I have the same thing happening. My husband usues my paypal account we get spamed in his email and mine!... I am getting notices from Chase bank also. The first one was so "good" I called them and asked what is up. This business has certainly turned all of us into better senior citizens. We hopefully won't fall for anything!

I got about 6 of those from "PayPal" yesterday. My email is set up to block images and other external content in HTML email so the only thing that showed was my name and I knew these were bad right off the bat. I forwarded them to PayPal spoof and got back the usual canned reply. They came from someplace that said server.elshabab.com when I checked the properties on one of them. How they got the names right I do not know unless they are out there scanning emails in the system or it is an inside job. Probably the former at least I hope.

According to Occam's Razor it's more likely an inside job or the simplest explanation - PayPal sold your private financial data to outside parties. Since your are in the USA (and thus completely lacking in privacy protection under the law) that would be the most likely reason.
PayPal accounts held in most non-USA jurisdictions have much greater privacy protection afforded by legislation (with HUGE fines to deter companies from selling sensitive personal data).

I've received the same spoof...also relating to an X-Box. Could be an inside job. But remember that anyone who ever sent or received a payment from or to your Paypal account has your name and the associated e-mail address. There could be an underground out there in the Internet ether for people to sell these account names.
