Jack, you have lived in SoCal & should know that to make it rain, either wash your car or have a yard sale Jan. Feb & March.

Jack...Don't let a little water discourage you. Throw some plastic tarps over the stuff till the rain lets up. Just to be on the safe side, use the El Cheapo tarps, not the good ones. You don't want the tornado that's following this storm to get your good ones. Here's what the NWS in San Diego has to say about your part of Southern Calif for this afternoon:
SNOW...DENSE FOG AND GUSTY WINDS WILL MAKE DRIVING HAZARDOUS IN THE
MOUNTAINS...INCLUDING THE CAJON PASS...AND MOTORISTS SHOULD BE
PREPARED FOR LONG DELAYS. THE COLD UNSTABLE AIR MASS COULD PRODUCE
SMALL HAIL...THUNDERSTORMS...FUNNEL CLOUDS AND WATERSPOUTS. RAIN AT
LOWER ELEVATIONS COULD CAUSE LOCAL ROCK AND MUD SLIDES OR DEBRIS
FLOWS...MAINLY IN AND BELOW RECENTLY BURNED AREAS OR ON STEEP
TERRAIN.

Sorry about the rain, Jack...BUT...it hasn't rained here in Oklahoma since 31 October and, after having half of the state in flames for the past months, we're THRILLED to FINALLY be getting some rain this weekend. Given ones druthers, I suspect you'd rather be rained out than have all your treasures burned to ashes.

Blueyes...Ironically, this very storm that Jack is complaining about in Southern California has a very good chance of moving into the Texas - Oklahoma panhandle area in a couple days if a couple events take place on schedule. There's also a very remote chance it could mix with some inbound moisture from the gulf and create an event that will make a lot of firefighters in your state and Texas very happy.

Yes, sparkz...the firefighters (and the rest of us) are REALLY looking forward to some much-needed rain...and even some snow in the northern part of the state. Of course, my daffodils and hyacinth won't know what to think with the cold and rain but it's a small price to pay for the rain! The ground is so dry that MANY houses show cracks and the folks that make those repairs are booked solid for 6 weeks!

Roadsmith...It's been raining heavy down here most of the day and dumping a lot of snow in the Sierra Nevadas. We can thank Ewora for this one also. It came straight down the coast from Alaska. And there's more on the way.

Hey Jack, hope you sell it all for great prices. I'll always go to a sale that is inside, no matter what the weather (and most of the outside ones too, unless it is really cold)

That is when you can find best bargins in rainy weather and INSIDE sell. I found a lot this morning and it was pouring big time thank goodness for the rain here in Texas, Maybe it will put out all those fires in panhandle. I am in North Central TX but have been smelling the smoke since Tuesday and it is a good 300-400 miles from me.
My wife has been kicking my butt all morning for passing up a great deal at the indoor GS, we went back to take her to look and she saw the thing I was telling her about and I have not heard the end of it yet, it sold about 5 minutes before we arrived.. Guess I should have gone ahead and bought it for her.
