I think this is a wolfhound of some type, maybe Russian? Someone told me the mark looks like the crossed swords of Meissen but they are raised instead of painted and there are no incised numbers so probably not Meissen. It is a good quality figurine and marked bone china also. It stands approx 3 3/4 inches tall by 4 inches across the base. Thank you.
I'm getting the dreaded no image available, and that is the one with the mark! Sorry.

If you list as Russian Wolhound, don't forget to also include Borzois.

It is a Borzois ofcourse. The Japanese used to copy a lot of German ceramics and put on quasi crossed swords and other marks - this in the pre Toyoya, Nissan and Honda days. This looks Japanese to me.

The German would not say bone china and they are usually better made ,as the design comes from some professor or expert who know that particular breed.
but if this is made in Japan,it is better than most I have seen.
put both russian wolfhound and Borzoi in your title.
the mark is there on the right upper corner.

The design is embossed. Actually the Japanese are capable of making great ceramics if they choose to. They just copied a Borzois that was made elsewhere.

Buyhigh,
Japanese do make fine porcelain, there is a joint venture between Meissen and one of the Japanese porcelain makers.
But to make good dog figurine, you have to know that breed, its poise, its body contour and manners and the European makers employ specialists who know these dogs, back then when the Borzoi ,Saluki,Whippet were popular, you often read they are designed by so and so,and so and so is an expert in dogbreeds.
I dont think Meissen ever make a borzoi, they are too busy making monkeys and pugs.
