I came across this while looking for a way to blow some major bucks on a frivolous item. Item # 6864874998 (sorry, tried to do the link but it was long enough to annoy even the friendliest among you).

Well, whatever you think of the auction... hard to argue with the success of them. Seller has 100% feedback rating and these stats for the past two weeks.
Avg. Sold Price - $386.39
Sold Price Range - $2.25-$5,600.00
Avg. Sold Buy It Now Price - $14.99
Sold Buy It Now Price Range - $2.99-$99.00
Avg. Start Price - $186.57
Completed Items 124 (includes items multiple items single listing)
Sold Items 36
Avg. Bids per Item 7.41
Over $13K in sales from apparently happy customers in two weeks. I'm thinking ebay won't be leaping to nix those fees.

well I went through 2 pages of feedback. of all the "mystery" auctions sold there was only about 3 feedbacks from them. the lowest 2 were for under $5.00. Here's one for ^326 but the buyer? had this to say:
"Great Ebayer..very understading and compramising. Thanks "
undertading & compramising?
would this be that they didn't pay for the auction?
was the excuse like my dog died, my husband got fired and we got evicted from our house?

I didn't see any huge dollar amounts on the feedback left for mystery auctions either. I did a search for mystery auction and there were 929 listed!
