I was just trying to use eBay to research price on an item. All I get when I try to click on an item an item from the search page is:

Page Not Responding

The eBay page or feature you are attempting to access is not responding.
Please try the options below:

* Try to access the feature directly from the eBay Home Page, instead of using a bookmark.
* Wait a few minutes and try to access the feature again.

If you have waited ten to fifteen minutes and you still can't access your page:

* Check our Announcement Board to see if the feature is currently unavailable.

If what you are looking for is unavailable, you may still be able to access other parts of the site from the eBay Home page

Hope yer bidness is UP, UP,UP!

Yes Park - we know that you are no longer selling on ebay and have nothing but contempt for it.

Well, SOME people do. I tried it for two days (that was apparently the length of the free trial) and got the sme thing you did. Once I changed the time frame to something other than the default (two weeks?), it did work. I honestly couldn't see anything worthwhile about it. Not even the free two day trial -- I used it twice I think.

Birgit - are you referring to Marketplace Research? Most of the time, you just need to resend if you get no response.

Personally I love it for some of the one off things I have had. When listing LPs and books I can see the sell thru, average sale price, and if they sell better thru the store or auctions. Saved me a fortune in listing fees and kept me from listing some more valuable titles for way too little.

Also helps when sales slump, I can look at the sales of my competition and see if there is something I am doing wrong and need to correct or if it's just a bad period from the category as a whole and I just need to wait it out.

Fenix: Yes, I believe that's what the OP referred to (but I hadn't read your post preceding mine when I replied). Gave the Marketplace Research a whirl, and could not get it to work until I changed it to past 60 days, or some such time frame period. I looked up maybe half a dozen items in lighting but didn't find it useful personally since I don't have a store and that particular category is in flux most of the time.

I sure can see that it would be a great tool for exactly what you're talking about -- especially books etc.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the topic. I will file it away for some day when I need it!
