I know this has been discussed .
I am clueless as how to search the posts here. Maybe that information could kindly be explained.

I detest International money Orders .. is there a way to determine which ones are safer. The Canada Post seem to give little trouble ...where do you cash these?

Does your bank charge to cash International Money Orders -mine does on some.

I LOVE money orders on USA sales. LOVE LOVE LOVE them-which I could put that in my auctions. The vast majority of buyers (at least on what I sell) pay using Paypal I would say 98%.
I may be just over cautious but do not feel the same about International money orders ... if there is a known guideline , please just point me int the general direction of the information.
thanks much

You always want to specify International POSTAL Money orders. You can cash them at any P.O. in the U.S. without fees. Most of the civilized world participates in the IPO treaty, with I believe Great Britain. They can walk into any Barclay's bank and purchase a Money Order in U.S. dollars payable on a U.S. bank which can be cashed at your bank without fees. Anywhere else, they can purchase a Western Union money order and mail it to you. You can have it validated as non counterfit before you ship the item.

I always request Canada Post or postal money orders from whatever country - so I can cash them at the PO.
But some send whatever they want .
The bank does charge a fee sometime.

I do not take the Canada Post ones to bank to cash.

Sorry to burst some balloons but very few developed countries still issue International Postal Money Orders. Japan and Canada do issue USD denominated ones, but the UK does not. Most countries long ago converted to electronic banking and international transfers can be done quickly (and often free of charge in the EU). Money Orders are so last century. Other popular options include PayPal, or for those adverse to chargebacks, MoneyBookers...

Bank-issued money orders are usually called bank drafts; they are cashable at sight (or on demand) on the issuing bank.

Just read in Forbes magazine -there is a bank in Jacksonville,Florida called EVERGREEN BANk which offers saving accounts denominated in foreign currencies-euro,pound,yen etc .It also sells CD denominated in foreign currency.
This means your bidder can send you a Euro payment and you just deposit in your euro account .
