One of the many reasons I will never list on a ebay special day. To many hassles and the market get's flodded. I'll just wait until the weekend.

EBay has behaved pretty well today. Might be your luck of the draw in what server you get.

That used to always happen during Free Listing Days.

Now it always happens during 10-cent Listing Days.

I am having all kinds of problems today. My Ebay area not loading, searches not working. And it is off and on with these problems. Anyone else?

My eBay is sporadically up and then down. Searches are very strange, but they have been for a while.

I'll bet that they scheduled an upgrade of sorts to coincide with the 10 cent listing day. It's like a store having a sale while they are remodeling. People would complain and not shop at a brick and mortar store, right? A way to get the people to come in and buy. In this case, people will sell and buy with less complaining. Got it?!

Amber...

Are you suggesting this is Planned Incompetence?

Seems like the Vendio Board is slow today, too.

Pat, that's what I am saying. It would make sense.

Pat: It wasn't me that suggested any incompetence, It was just enquiry if anyone else was having problems. Today I have been trying to check the feedback on some buyers, and get a message that that feature is down. The auctions I listed through Vendio all went right on time, I did schedule a bit earlier than I usually do just in case, last time I had auctions closing close to midnight.

Amber...

My error. My apologies!

paloma91...
It certainly "ups" the hits on eBay, without the expense of having to carry those listings for a week. Like ‘planned obsolescence’, ‘business loss’ as a write-off, ‘two sets of books’ and quite a few other strategies that businesses use for financial gain. Hmmmm. Nah... Not eBay!

Pat, it's just a thought. It would make sense. Instead of saying something like, we are going to TEST something we are considering changing on ebay. Try out our Beta version. They save the money of testing beta and just put it out there. If it crashes, who cares? Who will complain? The 10 cent listers? Dot com companies have been doing this for years. Create a product, do a little testing, put it out there, people buy it OOPS! We just now found errors. (yeah right) Here, download the "fix" for it! Sound familiar?

I worked for a dot com company that did that. We tested in house for a short time. I was one of the testers. I would complain and request a fix. NOPE, the company needs the money or wants the money. They plan to fix it later. Too bad, this is all too common place nowadays.

Thanks for the insight. I was not aware of these tactics. A sad commentary on our business standards. And we wonder why others do not trust us?

I haven’t listed on a “Free” or “10 Cent” listing day in over two years. These shenanigans have had a lot to do with my avoidance of auction listings. My eBay Store (fortunately) meets my needs just fine (trips with the Grandkids, home improvements, etc.). I empathize with those who are trying to make a living through eBay. It has to be discouraging...

From the Announcements board:

***Update: Slowness with Descriptive Search***

May 10, 2006 | 09:28AM PST/PT

Members should no longer be experiencing errors when using descriptive search; however some searches may not return complete results of all appropriate items within some categories.

We're working to completely resolve the remaining issues as quickly as possible.
