Has anyone used the UPS store recently for shipping?

I always skipped them and went to the UPS shipping terminal because the store was so much more expensive than the terminal location because they added an up-charge at the store.

Recently we had a large item and the quote from the UPS store was cheaper than the terminal. Have they changed there pricing just curious from your experiences?

I just dropped off a pack at the UPS store no more than 30 minutes ago and for the first time in almost 2 years the price was lower than what eBay quoted by almost 2.00. lol I almost fell over ....normally if eBay quotes 10.50 it 13.01 or so. I started adding a couple of bucks if I offered UPS on heavy items just to cover my butt. They must have done something to the rates.

Don't use UPS anymore but you got my interest so I did a little checking. I went to www.theupsstore.com and www.ups.com and did a rate quote for the exact same package. In the example I used it calculated as follows.

UPS Store Ground $13.59
UPS Ground $13.18

So it looks like using UPS directly is still cheaper. I don't see that using the UPS store would ever be any cheaper since they are franchise stores owned by Mail Boxes Etc., INC. and MBE is not going to ship at a loss.

Aren't the UPS stores franchises and not owned by UPS?
