Has anyone ever seen anything like this? It's silver (not marked) and each strip is actually woven like a real basket. Even the handle looks like an actual wood basket's does. The craftmanship is amazing. It was in with a bunch of oriental items I bought for my collection. This and an old Arabic copper pot which may be my next "help" post. When I Google silver basket I get a bunch of jewelry links. I don't even know what to begin the auction at.
It's about 2-3/4" long, 3/4" high (not including handle - 2-3/16" with handle) and 3/4" deep. It weighs .90 ounces (.82 OZT)
Most of the silver baskets on eBay are charms. There is one Cartier miniature basket. Too bad this isn't Cartier. I hate it when things aren't signed.

Adorable.
Isn't there a category for miniatures?? If so that's where I would put it.
What does that mark say - I can't read it.

Cheryl
I did a search and could not find a category for miniatures but WOW you can get some big money for some really small things. Good luck!!!
You're right. I chuckle to myself when I see the great camera debates. A light tent and a few lights are much more important than having this month's camera... or a Mavica for that matter

Did some searching online for you and I can find boat loads of "plated" minature woven baskets that are new and look to be import junk that they call Wedding gift's.
If I get some more time later I'll try to do some more in depth searching for you.

It looks like decent quality. The mark I thought was French, but it looks like the mark is visible from the inside as well as the underneath, and I don't think the French would do that. Probably Indian origin. I don't know that it makes much difference value wise, but how do you know it's solid silver and not plated. I've owned dozens of these(all larger and not as cute as your's), and they've all been plated. The only way to tell for sure is to make a deep cut and then drop some acid on it.
