I have 2 sets of Knives. One is by Dione Lucas and the other is by Gourmet. I think they are from the 60's or maybe earlier. Can't date them exactly. Can I sell these on Ebay?

You can't sell switchblades or knives that are disguised as other objects but kitchen knives are "generally permitted."
"Knives: Knife listings are generally permitted on eBay, with certain exceptions:
* Switchblade knives: The interstate sale of switchblade knives is prohibited by federal law; therefore switchblade knives may not be listed on eBay. Federal law defines switchblade knives as any knife having a blade which opens automatically (1) by and pressure applied to a button or other device in the handle of the knife, or (2) by operation of inertia, gravity, or both.
* Disguised Knives: Knives disguised to look like a harmless item are not permitted on eBay. These items include but are not limited to belt buckle knives, lipstick case knives, air gauge knives, and writing pen knives."

Great! Thanks. I don't see any by Dione Lucas. Either ebay's search function sucks or there just aren't any. Interesting. don't know if I wlll list them. It might not be worth it.

I listed a lovely vintage boxed set of Sheffield silver bone handled carving set. I never did sell it, not sure why, I guess people must not use them any more, or don't collect them. It's worth a try however.

from what I can find - only 1 Dione Lucas knife has been listed, it was a store item, went for $2.99. Ironically, it sold today.
Doesn't look like Dione Lucas has a lot of interest in general - 56 items listed in all formats ... 13 sold.

A carving set is something that stays hidden in a buffet drawer forgotten most of the year. About the only time anyone thinks about one is at Thanksgiving, Christmas or Easter. Listing it to run through one of those three holidays would likely bring more bidders and better prices than any other time of year. I've also found this to be true on certain patterns of dinnerware.

This isn't a carving set with the fork, sharpener and carving knife. This is a set of 8 knives: Bread, carving, chopping and others. Sorry, I don't don't the names. I can't rcognize them by sight. They have numbers on them but that's all. They have been used. Not new so maybe I should just try to dump them at a garage sale

Paloma, since they're used, I'd donate them to a thrift shop or put in a garage sale. They don't sound worth trying to sell.
