I get a different answer every time I ask about home delivery.
I was just told that I need to have a corp account to use home delivery but 3 weeks ago I was told if I prepaid it OK.
Anyone used this service if so can you tell me how it works?
Thanks

I didn't know that they had home delivery. I always thought the recipient had to go to the terminal to get their package. At least that was the way it was all of the times that I sent packages for the company I worked for some time ago. That may have changed and would be interested to find out and changes.

Yep, Stonecold, that was the way it was in 1982, the last time I shipped by Greyhound...

greyhound HD actually uses UPS to deliver to the house after it reaches the greyhound bus station.
I don't know about the corp account to use it.

Maybe that's what it was. The items I sent with Greyhound were way too big for UPS so there would be no way UPS could deliver that for Greyhound. I guess that would make sense.

ah yes haha as usual you "think" you know what you are talking about.
you don't.
greyhound DOES do home delivery.
go somewhere else and pontificate.

ok. let me clarify my answer.
last time I checked I had an extremely large item to be shipped. too big for UPS or FedEx online quotations supposedly.
it was a triangular item for framing pictures.
it looked like greyhound was the only way to ship it. I spoke at length with greyhound - although this was well over a year ago.
it was going to a home/house although this was a home based business. that's how I learned that UPS actually contracts out to do their home delivery.
I ended up shipping it UPS after all. after all was said and done, the size quoted online was "different" for a triangular item and it fell under the UPS size limitation.
I see the greyhound website is not touting their package services as much anymore online. So maybe the rules have changed.
for ladyjewels2000 - a corp account is probably as simple as signing up. your best bet is to talk to someone on the phone and make sure you take names and numbers when you do.

Greyhound is like every other major common carrier in the United States. Two sets of rules and two levels of service. One for the general walk in public, and one for the corporate accounts. It's been that way since the ICC was sunseted out of existence. Their public web site will not reveal any of the services available to corp accounts.

Hey all
I just got back from the Florida Gulf where my connect gives new meaning to SLOW DIAL up!!!
I never could get an answer so I hauled my 6 1/2 foot item to the Greyhound station. After 1 1/2 hours, I left having paid for home delivery but with only a hand edited receipt as the "Machine" would add it.
Left for the Gulf Sat morning and when we arrived I checked my messages & got one from another Greyhound employee who said "There's a problem with your shipment" Of course the Jax office was closed by this time so after an hour on the phone - I track down someone who said they had void the ticket I had and issued another which included the home delivery - which he stated they don't do but he guessed they would have to do it this time. Confused yet??? Good thing I called because they didn't have the complete address and the phone number was wrong.
It made it the my buyer door this afternoon so he is finally happy. This is the same item I shipped 3 weeks ago by DHL - who lost it (6 1/2 foot long package???) - it ended up in Ohio where they opened it and sent it back to me. Of course I have a DHL account but it was much easier to ship it back to me than look up my phone number on my account and call me???
AMAZING - I guess it's a case of pick your poison.
