Hi Jack:

auction: 260002181533

considering our past, i thought maybe you would find this toy interesting...

note the US Navy ambulance-wearing Marine insig. this was one year b4 my time, and i was always told Marines didnt get no damn ambulance. oh well, its only a toy.
thought you might like to see it.

WOW!!! What's really impressive is that it's only been listed about 2 1/2 hours and you already have a bidding war going!!!

I spent 31 months in the Marines as a Navy Corpsman, 1952-54. Never saw an ambulance like this one. Ours were smaller & not munted on a truck like this one. Alsowe used Jeeps fitted with a rack that could a stretcher over the passenger seat. We used these to take wounded from the front back to the hospita unit.

By the way, MYOT, if you don't mind, at the end of the auction could you share a few statistics with us? Such as how many watchers, and how many bottomfeeders contact you to end the auction and make a deal off Ebay? The way it looks now, your counter is going to run out of numbers before the 7 days are up

Spark, i dont mind resonding.
-----------
..right now it has 63 watchers. of the 30 questions, i have only posted those that are informational or will help my auction. 30 minutes into auction, my first offer to close early was 1300. i have 5 offers so far; 2 exceed the hi bidder-but NOT by much.
--------------
..i decided when i listed with no bin, i would let it run its course. and the reverse of bottom feeders have shown up..two bidders asked for a promise not to stop auction early-before they would bid. that was first indication of set's real value.
--------------
..i posted this for couple of reasons.
..foremost, this forum-its members, have been the source for a wealth of knowledge over the years; and i have profited in many ways. it is hoped the info will alert forum members to collectibility and value. AND that is not to claim guruship in anything!!
------------------
if someone on this forum can use my infomation, then they will[if they didnt already] know it is very collectible-and profit.
-
some examples, on David's, a much newer[90's] set just sold for 1650bucks. a USNavy caboose on eabay, 400bucks. on 6/25, a dummy[t engine] just brought 1500 on ebay - but the main engine usually brings about 1-300 bucks. go figure.

Thanks MYOT. I commend you for running an honest and straight forward auction. My experience, after 8 years on Ebay, is that you will get MUCH more for it by letting it run it's course than you would to deal with a bottom feeder. You can expect a few bids between now and the end. The one other piece of information we need, you cannot supply now. That is how many snipers hit in the last 60 seconds. I don't think you will need to answer that one. All of us will be watching this one down to the end and pulling for you. Good luck!!

MOT, that is great! Can't wait to see how this one ends.

I just checked the Pulse, you aren't on it yet, but I hope you knock some of those get rich quick ads off of there real soon. I'm surprised it hasn't made the Toy Pulse yet. The lionel that is listed there has less hits and bids than yours. Go figure??

Congratulations MYOT !!!! I knew the snipers would show up at the end. And they're always better to deal with than the bottomfeeders that show up at the beginning. This will be a memorable 4th of July for you.
