HELP! My ebay store search for my store is only partially working? When I seach for a certain costume some don't come up at all. Is there something going on?
I have the name COSTUME in all of my 1793 ebay store titles and when I do a search on COSTUME 558 auctions show up. That shows that more then 1/3 of my auctions are not showing up under search.
Help I am trying to do inventory!

Strange! I have had off and on problems with my store search for several months. I never tried your technique of searching a word that appears in all of my listings: "postcard". 100% of my 7952 listings have the word "postcard" in them at least once - yet my store search only shows 7514 items!

I just noticed the search is not working correctly when you check the titles and descriptions box. They messed around with something again!

valo - instead of using your "store" search try using the search "see seller's other items" - I found that that one showed all of my listings while the store search did not.

Add my store to the problem list. I have 138 items in my store that have "Christmas Seals" in both the item title and description. Of those, there are 98 items which state "Christmas Seals" in their individual titles.

When I do a search in my store, 1 item comes up.

I'm glad that I do not own stock in ebay. Something is going to happen, because they have no control over the daily operations.

Valo, you are correct ... when I run a search with "title and descriptions" unchecked, 112 items are shown. Go figure ...

I have been in contact with Customer Support by email and told them about the problem.
I have narrowed it down where the problem is it is the in "titles &
descriptions" box in the ebay store search that is not working correctly.
If it is "checked off" it messes up the search. It's almost like it's working
backwards except it is eliminating some auctions that should be showing up
when it is checked off.
They should be paying me to be a trouble shooter!

This is the INCORRECT answer they gave me and a copy of my email back to them;
Dear Valorie,

Thank you for writing eBay in regard to some of your items not appearing
on main searches.

eBay Stores have a Store Inventory listing format that makes them
different from other eBay listings. For this reason, eBay Stores have
separate search tools. However, there a couple of ways that eBay drives
direct traffic from the main eBay site to eBay Stores:

- When a user's search has 30 or fewer matches from Online Auctions or
Fixed Price listings, up to 30 items from eBay Stores will also appear
in the search results. The order of placement in these results is based
primarily on Store subscription level.

- When a user's search has more than 30 matches from Online Auctions or
Fixed Price listings, we'll include a link to the eBay Stores search
results in the left hand, "Shop eBay Stores" section near the bottom of
the results page.

You can do many things to actively promote your Store. Here are a few
ideas:

- Mention your Store in your item descriptions.
- Include a link to your Store in all your emails.
- Build helpful, custom categories, such as "weekly specials" and
"closeout," for buyers.
- Create a logo to use in your Store and in all of your marketing
materials.
- Grow your presence by upgrading to a Feature subscription.

Used correctly and creatively, an eBay Store is the most effective way
to market and sell your merchandise to the public.

For more information about ways you can promote your Store and increase
sales, go to:

Valorie, if you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to reply
to this email and let us know.

Sincerely,

Lora S.
eBay Customer Support

My email back to them;
I'm not sure you are understanding the problem that I have found. I am
directly in my ebay store page doing the search. If you go to my ebay store
it shows I have 1769 auctions running. If you type in the word COSTUME and
do "not" CHECK off the "in titles & descriptions" you get 1783 more then it
says I even have listed. Then if you "do" CHECK off that box to include the
"in titles & descriptions" you ONLY come up with 703. This doesn't make
any sence if anything it should be the opposite. There is a problem I have
been listing on ebay for 6 years I know when my store is not working
correctly and the search is NOT bringing up all of my items. When I type in
the NAME of a costume I am looking for in my store only some if any of them
show up. I am trying to do inventory and the only way I can do it right now
is through "My eBay" store items listings I can't confirm anything through
my regular store listings. Please believe me there is a problem going on.

Valorie - I think you should post this on the ebay "store sellers" board and report the problem to the Stores Team (# Phone: 866-322-9105
(6am-6pm PT, Monday-Friday). There's a CHANCE that someone who knows SOMETHING might read the Store board. They say they do....

Thank you for writing eBay in regard to the search option in your Store
not working correctly.

We are aware of the issue and working to get it resolved as quickly as
possible. I apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced in
regards to this matter. Please be aware that if you uncheck the "in
titles & descriptions" option next to your Search option your items
should appear.

I found a post about this on the Store Sellers Board - evidently it started last night (may be a reason sales were slow last night for a Monday):

valo - ebay has announced a search problem now. As a quick fix try revising your items using Sales Manager bulk editor (you can do hundreds at a time). You can revise some small thing like "handling time" that won't materially impact the listing. The revised items are all indexed again and start appearing in search.

neglus;
What is the Sales Manager bulk editor through? Is it the one in the My eBay? I have close to 2000 auctions to revise and the one through My eBay are taking about 3 minuttes a page of 100. That could take half a day to do it that way. I have already revised some that way.

Yes it's the one in Sales Manager (I think that is the same one as My Ebay) - I just revised my auctions because many of the ones ending TODAY were not showing up. I don't know the maximum number of items that can be revised at one time (only 200 show per page on my view). Maybe that isn't the answer for you. I have used the Vendio bulk editor before to add to the descriptions - I have noticed a surge in sales after I do a mass revision ( i have done three with Vendio since the first of the year and it seems to last about a month.) My listings are getting so messy with all the revisions that I think I am going to have to come up with another way if they don't get this fixed soon!

Sales Manager is free with basic store and Sales Manager Pro is free with a Featured store. Now as to where you find the place to sign up for it...I think you will find it under "Seller Tools" (left side column of your "my ebay" Click to get more information about "track and manage" your listings.

I'm glad it worked for you rpm and hope it does for you too Jane-pixia. I revised all of my items in January to deal with the acceptable payments policy and again a month later in February to add an image box so I could post a vacation notice in every listing. I noticed a radical change (for the worse) in my sales in September and they never really recovered through the holiday season. Suddenly my store sales picked up in January after my revision and BEFORE stores were included in search and then started failing by mid-March BEFORE stores were taken out of search. I wondered then if the revision might have somehow triggered something with my items in search. Things were so bad by the beginning of June that I decided another revision couldn't hurt so this time I added a link in my descriptions to add me as a favorite store. Sales picked up again. I've been reading in some search-problems threads that CS reps have suggested doing revisions to get store items indexed - I guess it wasn't a coincidence after all. But then again...WHO KNOWS??? The search is either broken OR ebay is messing with it and perhaps sneaking in tests of the "Smart Search".

neglus, from some of your earlier posts i have assumed that you let the system repost your auctions. I know you have a lot of them, but i never let that happen. Yrs ago i noticed that unless someone comes in and visits the account I never get a sale from those posts that were auto re-listed. We have been for yrs screwed with the ebay system. The only thing they really pay attention to is charging and sending the bill(even that they screw up).
thanks

Earlier today, some members may have intermittently experienced error messages while using search to find items.

This issue has now been resolved. Thank you for your patience.

I called the ebay store phone number again last night and they told me they were working on the problem and should have it fixed anytime.
I read this (above)annoucement this morning. Mine are NOT fixed. The only ones that are now showing up in the search are the ones I edited myself and it took me 3 hours yesterday to do that. I am bulk revising 100 at a time and it is taking me up to 4 minuttes to edit that many at a time. I am not even 1/2 way through.
Now they say;

July 12, 2006 | 02:34PM PST/PT

The eBay system will be undergoing general maintenance from approximately 23:00 PT on Thursday, July 13th to 01:00 PT on Friday, July 14th. During this maintenance period, certain eBay site features may be intermittently unavailable or slow.

At least my auction listings are fixed (only 2 not appearing in T&D search of "postcard" while yesterday it was 250 not appearing) and store listings are improced ( *only* off by 400 today - yesterday it was 1000).

They have that annoucement every Thursday - it's the regular time for maintenance.
