We, out here on the west coast, got the first hurricane of the season. Beat you folks in Florida hands down! Hurricane Bud formed about an hour or so ago off the coast of Mexico. It started as a tropical depression yesterday evening and rapidly developed into a Cat 1 hurricane in less than 24 hours. At the rate it's going, it should be a Cat 2 by morning. Luckily it's headed away from the coast, so it should only irritate the fishing boats. The upper level conditions that allowed this to develop have spread across central America into the Caribbean and Gulf, so activity could pick up there as early as next week.
If Murphy's law is correct, everything East of the San Andreas Fault will slide into the Atlantic

Classic...About an hour after I made that post, another tropical depression formed in the same general area. It has now grown into Tropical Storm Carlotta, and will be a hurricane by tomorrow morning, so we'll have a pair of them. At this rate, they should have named it "Bud-2" and kept it up till we had a 6 pack.
