eBay is dialing up enforcement of fair shipping practices, so make sure your listings comply. Charge actual shipping costs; use eBay's free Shipping Calculator and specify crating or handling fees.
OK looked at it but the email makes me think that to be in compliance to USE EBAY"S shipping calculator Only way to use it is to list with them and or turbolister RIGHT?
Vendio has a shipping calculator but it isn't ebay's.
Also says to specify crating and handling fees does that mean we have to state actual cost of our supplies? now that would be a pain or could get real long too. LOL
I know these are loaded questions but by reading Ebay's latest message it is the idea I get they want THEIR calculator used ETC But website is a bit different in my interpretations.
I think they should go after the real scoundrals, but am betting they will go by what people turn in and hopefully not by auctions not using the ebay calculator bla bla bla.

Irked -- are you in a "sensitive" category?
Just curious 'cause I sure would love to see anyone attempt to determine how much one of my oversize packages should cost to ship. By the time you pack a chandelier, for example, with the requisite 3" around it, it will go into at least 30 lb. dimweight, if not more. They're going to tell me what that fragile piece of pottery is going to cost to ship with bubbles and doubles? I don't think so.

That is kinda what I am thinking. no not always sensative category but sometimes. & I charge decent shipping 99.9% of time and still feel guilty quoting a terribly high shipping to people overseas for exact cost. But that is me, I may have learned my lesson today though. Finall got paid for a huge item from a buyer in Puerto Rico had to change shipping as they didn't inquire before bidding paid on almost the 10 day with paypal, not confirmed address and had to ship in 2 packages and did not pad my shipping charge any and had to pay a little over --no bg deal but it is the principal of thing that it took me forever to get it ready in 2 huge boxes plus loose money on shipping still no big deal but I was just miffed that they didn't contact me, before ending or bidding, and as to date they still have a non working email at ebay ( alarms going off.
I can always turn them in for non working email address and may stop their shenanigans if they try it.. I may really get pi$$ed off if they do any crap on their end after receiving it. Only saving grace is that they have been getting all good feedback and leaving all good feedback for the last couple months buying on ebay but have only 23 feedback, and are not buying exorbitant high number of things. I think they are reselling what they buy over there from looks of what they buy.
I just hope ebay is overstating their plight LOL and are going after the 40$ shippers that can actually send the item for about a dollar something. Ya know what I mean. I also think they should get rid of all China and Korean sellers that sell for a penny with high shipping makes us all look like dirt bags. I would rather see an item at a fair price with decent shipping than see those kinds of auctions. Cause when I buy I combine the shipping to the bid price to see if that is what I am willing to pay and am sure everyone does that too. Except these guys selling bogus items so cheap with godawful shipping makes ebay look like a fleecing market.
Edited to add
Pix the email should be in your messages today maybe tomorrow if not today? Hard to post mesaage but will post link in a few got to go get it. part of email did an image of part of message and put red aound what I pasted in first message.

Hmmm...just wondering...are 'Fair Shipping practices' in the same league as "Fair BUSINESS Practices"
They say to use EBay shipping calculator etc.
In "Fair Business practices" I suggest they state the fact that Store fees are increasing on the page where they are trying to recruit new Store Sellers!
Sorry..I DO want them to stop the 99cents $499 Shipping merchants but surely they can do some searches and just target THEM.
They have the sophisticated equipment and they have had other Sellers reporting those auctions for many months with little or no action on their part.
I had better be sure I measure my bubblewrap to the inch and count the peanuts in a box as well as the number of seconds it takes to pack a fragile china item destined for Australia.

Irked...One way around it is to not state shipping charges in the auction.Just give a minimum of info in the description. Insert a one line statement that weights, dimensions, colors, condition and shipping charges will all be in the "surprise package" you email them at the end of the auction.

It really isn't an email, is it? It looks like a generic PowerSeller newsletter -- with basic info gathered from whatever announcements they happen to be fond of at the moment. Boilerplate, in other words. I never read mine, but have to think it's not targeted at all. Irked, I believe you can relax.

birgittaw yes it was in my email but I have all ebay messages sent to my email and it was also in Messages from My Ebay. They send these out about 2 times a month and sometimes I look at them sometimes I don't but this one caught my attention as subject said Seller news: Shipping Policies bla bla bla so I looked to see what it might say since it is a hot topic here at Vendio lately..

I got a personal phone call from a female e-bay representative about this last week. She made a point of asking if I used the calculate function and also for so reason unknown to me if I had a web site. I mentioned the sellers from China who started their auctions at .01 and charged shipping in British pounds some of which would convert to $30.00 US dollars or more for a 3 oz. item. Suggested Ebay look into that first.
