Hello everyone , Does anyone know the makers name by the mark on the back of these plates. I have 8 of them ,4 men and 4 women...each a little different in color. All marked the same P. 70 Italy and the flower looking mark ...some have extra letter or numbers next to the flower and other have nothing. Are they anyone important or just some unknown artist ? Thanks for any info !!

I like them, too. What diameter are they? We need to think hard as to what decor these could appropriately be used in. All I can think tonight is "modern," but I'm sure there's a better buzzword.

lol sparkz !
They measure 8-1/2 across Roadsmith. They almost look like the drawings are crayon but they are under glaze. I guess just colored art pencil.
I've had them hanging on my wall for about a year...just looking at them lol...one of those things I like for some odd reason.
Remember ugly sells glassgrl...its the most beautiful plate ever to someone
Heres another one of the ladies

I have some with clowns in my store, but I'm not sure how old they are (60's-70's ?). I would mention they are hand-decorated. Also, if they are Italian majolica or Italian redware. They are cool. Good Luck!

I have lots of things I find here and there and put into my eBay office, expecting inspiration at some point--where to sell, what to call.
These drawings are reminding me sharply of *some* famous artist but it simply isn't coming to me. Not Modigliani, not Picasso. With my brain's slow search engine, it could be days, LOL.

Toasted, please be sure to tell us if and when they're sold. We'll be curious how they did.

I AM NOT an art expert, but these plates scream 1950s to me and the term 'sidewalk art'. I have no idea what memories spark this or if I entirely made it up. (Pause for a senior moment).

You said sidewalk art and it made me think of Mary Poppins pixiamom lol . My daugther like them cause they remind her of My Fair Lady. I guess the style of dresses and the big hats. I'll be sure to book mark this tread and let you know Roadsmith. Thanks again everyone !
