I was reading a thread and it vanished!
message said Thread Locked !

It was the topic - I do not know word for word but -Cool People from RT Gone to another Website...something like that.

Anyway, what gives? I wish I had got to read whatever hit a nerve with the "locker"

Here in Carolina ... there are NO COOL PEOPLE this week . It is still HOT as Heck . Been 98 to 100 everyday and the heat index 105 -110.
We were at MB for 4 days (last Thursday -Sunday) and it was better at the coast .

Today is suppose to be the last day of this scorching weather .

Gracious,GORE-HEAD finally hit on something - this globe is HOT (he also invented the internet, ya know)

Have a great weekend , stay cool

Mike , it was not on the RT it was here on eBay Outlook . Now I am curious what caused it to be censured.... injuring minds want to know!

What I had read was not offensive. It must have got into controversy or maybe went downhill on the post I did not see.

I ventured down the trail to the RT. I concluded some REV has a website. That one faction of the group like it, and others do not, others do not care!

Is that close? One tribe has started communicating around their own campfire?

Anyway,it is much less interesting to me , now.

There was nothing offensive in the post.

It was a link promoting another message board. I guess Vendio didn't like it.

I read that one, it had some reference to some song that was way suggestive I think and a donkeys butt, and the usual Knocking of posters. Kinda funny but I am betting they didn't like some of the jabs and posting link to another board.

It was about the RT and people who enjoy posting there. The poster was offering a link to a new board like the RT.

I don't blame Vendio for deleting it then, good for them. Need to keep the RT junk off of this board and keep it a place for real topic's and not gossip and bad mouthing fellow members.

It could have ben the words to the song, or it could have been the link. The only way we'll know is to see who doesn't post on Vendio for the next 30 days.

It was a post by piinthesky promoting the reverend Colin's board. If you think the RT is bad, that board is probably worse. I won't even venture to take a look. Besides, I'm on his a-hole list for totally disagreeing with his views. AND, I'm proud to be there with some other notables.

Mike - It's a good idea to avoid the RT!

We haven't had one fight in the four plus months that we have been up and running and it seems like everyone is going out of their way to avoid fighting. We even have an Ebay discussion board there too.

Cheryl, your post was incorrect as to the nature of the board but if it'll make you feel any better, I understand why you said it. What gets me is that you say, If you think the RT is bad, that board is probably worse. I won't even venture to take a look. Ok, so how do you know what the board is like? You're making an assumption, without even taking the time to check it out for yourself.

Cheryl, you're welcome there too and in fact I personally wouldn't mind it at all if you were there.

And it wasn't necessarilly a promotion as much as it was to just let everone know where all the cool people from the RT went to.

NOTE TO VENDIO: My appologies for posting that link, however, it wasn't anything that hasn't been done numerous times before by other, long term Vendio members who were well meaning, without their posts/threads being deleted.

pi - While I don't think your thread should have been pulled (it wasn't hurting anyone), you should understand why I won't go over to Colin's board. My name being on his A-hole list is uncalled for. I haven't been posting on either of these boards for a long time - especially the RT. I have neither the time nor the desire to constantly defend myself to people who don't know me. I read the thread where Maggie was crucified on the rev's board. So, why would I go over there? I have enough stress without adding that. I can't see that board being any less aggressive or combative than the RT.

I had only read one or two of the post so can't say why it was pulled.
I have been to RT maybe a dozen times since being with AW /VD since 1999- over 7 years.

I posted a few times a few months back and quickly was tagged as an imposter of some other poster ?????? Though I had been with AW/VD longer than any of the accccusers. I was stating my opinion had no earthly idea what agenda this other person(the one I was suppose to be a recarnation of) had.

It was plain what agenda they had- to squash anyone who did not agree with whatever sprang from their endless abyss of so-call scope of world affairs.

I am too busy to deal with such nonsense.

BUT if I wanted to post there daily I would!

I do have opinions and respect opinions of others. On this board it is plain that we have different views but we do not talk trashy to each other.

eg. a few weeks back we all tossed around the FEE HIKE on stores . The calculations and break down of the real degree of the hike was posted by one poster. Several posted different outlets or ways to reduce store listings .
We disagreed on some and agreed on others. However all-in -all it was very helpful hearing different opinons .

But if you only clasp your ears and run your mouth, you are not learning!

Cheryl, there is absolutely no written rule on any message board site that I know of that states that you have to get involved in discussions that you may find, shall we say unsavoury.

We have many forums there on varing subjects that do not promote argument or debate. This is something that Vendio missed the boat on very badly and in my opinion is why they tend to lose members, among other reasons.

Ok, so one person thinks you're an a-hole. Many people think I am one too but it doesn't stop me, nor has it ever stopped me from posting at other message boards.

I am of the opinion that there is more to a person than just what they believe politically and I don't allow my political beliefs to color my overall opinions of other people.

I am NOT just addressing you with this but anyone and everyone to whom it may concern.

Uhh, last time I checked Vendio was a service that provided image storage, auction managment tools and webhosting. Can't say I have ever saw where they promoted a cover all trash message forum. The forums that they do provide are to help members that pay for their service with problems they have with service plans and the auction sites that are associated with them.

When I subscribed to Vendio's auction hosting services I did not expect, have not expected or expect in the future any improvements to the message system. It works for what it is ment for. A place to ask questions about Vendio and auction related matters. If you want a bunch of trash talking ho ha go elsewhere on the web for it because this ain't the place for it.

If they loose members that don't actually use their service what does that matter to them or me for that matter. If they are not using the services they sell what are they doing here in the first place?

MIKE-YOU ARE RIGHT ON!!!
That was EXACTLY what I was thinking. I pay Vendio for their services and tools I need to sell.

The forums can be helpful , this one (eBay Lookout) is!

I have learned a lot from others here.

The RT could, and I am sure at times is great. BUT the day I stumbled in - several posted deur is an imposter , a clone and such crap. I have been a long time member and
they were new in comparision.
I thought HOW STUPID!

Vendio services for folks wanting to do business are great .

People who know ALL the solutions for ALL the worlds problems;should better use their exceptional incite and knowledge than posting on a BB. Just think of the good and services they could do for mankind -since they know everything and do not need or care to hear others opinions.

Not all on RT are like that but some are!

Bolding is mine;

If that were truly the case, then why even have a Round Table discussion forum? Why not just allow business only discussions and discourage all other discussions?

Anyone who has been here for even a short amount of time has seen the recent rise in off topic (OT) discussions right here on the EO. If ya'll or anyone else really feels that way about this board then you shouldn't participate in those OT discussions and you should also discourage them from taking place but you don't do that, do you? Why is that?

If they loose members that don't actually use their service what does that matter to them or me for that matter. If they are not using the services they sell what are they doing here in the first place?

I hate to say it but that is a narrow minded attitude that gets boards shut down because of a lack of membership. IMHO people want to belong to a site where they can feel welcome and NOT only discuss business. It is a proven business plan that works quite well at other message board sites where they not only offer business tools but also forums where people can just get to know each other on a more personal level. The idea being, I believe, is that it causes people to be more willing to help each other out when they do discuss business and thus it also causes people to want to stick around. Vendio is grossly lacking in that department.

I would venture to guess that Vendio has lost more members than they have right now. These lost members have gone on to about a half dozen other message board sites and they haven't looked back.

Remember, it's not JUST about business.

Sorry, Mike, I for one do not use Vendio's services. I was using the image hosting but am phasing that out. It is far cheaper to host my own pictures and as far as auction management tools go, there are plenty out there that don't cost anything (Turbo Lister does just fine and so does eBay's management tools, which are free with a store). I'm all about keeping expenses down. However, I don't think that should keep me from posting on Outlook or the RT when I feel like doing so. I have found EO to be very helpful in many ways and I've been posting here for a long time.

I also am not a Vendio user. Every other year or so, I give them a try. I'm not here to slam Vendio, so I'm not going into details, but there are certain things that just don't work with my business model. Vendio does just fine for most customers, and good for them.

I do pop in here several times a day to see if there is some new auction news I need to know about. Yes, I often post in the RT, and it's not as bad as it's cracked up to be. In fact lately, it's been kinda dead.

I've left plenty of helpful posts here in the eBay section of the board, and while Vendio would purr along just fine without me, I have added a lot to various discussions over the years, so I do think Vendio and Vendio users have benefitted by allowing non-users to post. The RT, at least in theory, brings people here that wouldn't be tempted to try Vendio otherwise.

People come for the RT, stay for the EO, eventually try the services. It's a good "lure" to the site, and Vendio knows that.

Vendio has never been lacking in that department. They offer many forums and the eBay Outlook has always been an excellent place for anyone willing to learn and others have always offered to help, whether they know you on a personal level or not. I appreciate the total years of accumulated experience and knowledge among the users.

People come for the RT, stay for the EO, eventually try the services. It's a good "lure" to the site, and Vendio knows that.

I disagree. I think most arrive for the services or for help on the Outlook and then may wander to the RT.

I have neither the time nor the desire to constantly defend myself to people who don't know me.

I agree with Cheryl. Some of us spoke out against hate speech, auction interference and bigotry on the RT so why follow that crowd for more of it?
