We have tax free week here in Florida. Just ended July 30th. What a joke. Save 6.5% Might as well wait until the week after it ends. All the stores have 20% off sales then.

Vet, I have family that live outside of Salem. I should plan some huge purchases next time I visit to save on sales tax(grin)

You can also come to Anchorage for tax free. Some of the other boroughs in Alaska charge tax but not Anchorage. They keep trying to vote one in but the people say No Way. We don't even have state tax in Alaska. Property taxes are pretty high however....but then property costs are high too.

Like eBay listing sales, this only shows up in the deadest time for selling. It does have somewhat of an effect here in Massachusetts, since while tax-free shopping is a short drive away (NH), purchases delivered to MA will be taxed.

At show in Charlotte NC over the week end, and every other customer wanted to know if their new antique purchase qualified for "tax free." (No, it didn't -- generally just back to school with clothing, computers, etc.).
Never did understand the bts frenzy; anything you can buy this time of year is too hot to wear, and by November, the kids would have outgrown August's new shoes and pants.
