Gas Prices are expected to rise as much as 60 cents per gallon today on the West coast due to pipeline corrosion and fire in California. I'm off to fill up!

I did that this morning. Just another reason for the oil companies to profit even more.

Ahhh, bring on the high gas prices. I love driving my recycled and processed french fry oil burning trucks past the gas station. Cost me a wopping 70 cents a gallon to make, get's better MPG then regular diesel, is enviromently friendly, produces super low emissions and as a added bonus the guy stuck behind me in trafic get's a face full of french fry smelling exhaust. McDonalds should pay me a fee for the all the watering mouth's I send their way.

You haven't seen anything yet. Even though Tropical Storm Chris dissipated over Cuba, there's another about to form that will have a longer and more favorable shot at the gulf coast. If it reaches Cat 2 hurricand status, and closes down a few of the offshore rigs in the gulf, you will be looking at $4.00 + per gallon gas by Labor Day.

I think it'll be in the $4.00 range by Labor Day no matter what happens.

Oil companies have discovered we sapp's will moan and groan everytime the price rises but just keep on paying. Until the price gets so high that it affects demand, they have no incentive not to raise it.

Here in Aus where i am in Queensland, we are paying $5.05.u.s. per gallon. And it will be higher before too long it will be $6.12.u.s. a gallon.Within a month or two.

Mike. I have a 30 ton excavator and have considered running it on bio diesel. But i am just a little concerned that i will damage the motor. What is your suggestion.?

I am in Southern California and the prices have been going down the past week. Paid $3.13 this morning. I think the talk of immediate increases is just media hype.

With the BP oil lines going down in Alaska prices will definitely go up.

Bio Diesel is better on ALL mechanical parts. It has superior lubricity when compared to conventional diesel fuel. The only problem that may be encountered with Bio Diesel are with engines older then 1992 (at least in the US). Engines in the US older then 1992 had some natural rubber o-rings and fuel hoses used in and on them. Bio Diesel can cause increased deterioration of natural rubber. If the hoses and o-rings have been replaced after 1992 then they will most likely be of a Viton composition and are fine for use with Bio Diesel.

The only other major concern with Bio Diesel is it has a much lower Gel Point then conventional diesel fuel. The Gel Point of B100 (100%) Bio Diesel is 40 degree's F. In the winter month's I mix my fuel in a B20 blend (80% diesel fuel and 20% Bio Diesel). It can also be blended with Kerosene for off road use vehicles in the US. The fed's frown on using non road taxed Kero in on road vehicles.

Benefit's are superior lubrication which results in greatly increased fuel system components. Greatly decreased emissions and almost 0% soot making it very enviromently friendly. It's very cheap if you refine your own using used cooking oil.

In use in my own vehicles I have experienced mild increased mileage and power as a added benefit.

Oh, did I mention it's good for the enviroment and cheap to make.

Thanks Mike. guess that will rule my machine out then. the excavator is about 18 yrs old. on a hard days work about 8 to 9 hrs. it uses about 1/3 to 1/2 of a drum. That is pretty good. I have to move about 4,000 tons of dirt. That is why i was considering using the bio diesel. Oh well, back to expensive diesel.

All I can say is thank goodness for Giant Eagle and the gasoline rewards. We now have $1.00 off per gallon. We're working toward a free fill up. My daughter gives us her points as well.
