This is gall.
Move your store inventory listings to auction for 10 cents with free gallery.
HA HA HA
You need a lawyer to read the fine print.
Basically it says that you will be charged full price and they will credit it back to you at the end of September.
BIN empty the box, dance a jig, but not after 2PM or before the moon turns blue and then after we report our earnings for the quarter we may glitch out the accounting again and you will spend the rest of your life trying to get back the $8,000 dollars we owe you for putting up your entire store inventory in the Magic of Core.
PLEASE!
If you haven't read the announcement, please do. You gotta hand it to them.
Presto! Abracadabra! Your money is gone!

Oh, and of course, your auction listings will end on the 22nd.
So if you do have any money left, you'll have to relist your store items at the new fees.
Gotta hand it 'em. They got all the angles figured.

Would it work to list items in the Ebay Store for 3 cents, then send them to auction to take advantage of the 10 cent listing special? Any advice?

I was thinking the same thing! LOL...list tonight to store (without gallery) and then move to auction tomorrow.

Quite a coincidence. It coincides with the strike against Ebay set by U.K. sellers for tomorrow.

I don't think we can list items to store and then use this promotion - must be listed in store BEFORE 2 pm today.

I'll let my eBay store listings run till they expire. I've already been enclosing a note with all WBN's and Shipping Cofirmations letting my customers know I am moving my inventory to my.com and I'll see how it goes. I'll list enough items in the core listings to keep a fresh supply of new customers.
I'll probably include shipping/free on my site. If this doesn't work I can always list to my eBay store again.

Some of the US store sellers are having a week long listing boycott starting today too.

Yes, it certainly takes courage to refrain from listing in August, the slowest month of the year.

Took the words out of my mouth fLuff.
Ebay must be planning on having a very poor 3rd quarter statement if they have to stoop this low to fudge the books.

I knew I should have come here first - just launched all my unsolds in my store hoping to transfer them tomorrow. Oh well I was going to put most of it there before the 22nd anyway.
I think ebay is getting a bit sneaky or is that me!! lol

The strike against Ebay will have little, if any economic impact. It's the effect the news articles will have on the stockholders that's important.

As I said in another thread, many analyists on CNBC think Ebay as a stock is a sinking ship. They have downgraded it in every segment I have seen. Jim Cramer on Mad Money pulls no punches. He think the raising of prices in store listings will just drive sellers away. Judging from the stock price dropping like a rock and the sentiment expressed on many of the threads here, it looks like they are right. This promotion is a little too late for many sellers.

So what? At one time, "many analysts" thought Enron was a hot stock.

There's going to be many shocked sellers when they get their bill, especially if they aren't reading the fine print about the credit coming off October's bill. This is nothing more than numbers manipulation on the part of eBay. Think about it, the credits will come at the beginning of the fourth quarter manipulating the third quarter's numbers. In the meantime, with the boycott going on and the number of stores closing, this is the perfect way to get the numbers up without falsifying them. Nope, doesn't smell of Enron to me. . .

Someone on the Ebay boards brought up this point -
Since the credit comes at the end of September (hopefully), the upfront fees for this promotion will have to be paid when your August bill comes due.
If you are planning on leaving, you'll have to stay at least another month to get the credit.
Then, the question becomes - Will this be a monetary credit (as in you get your money back) or merely a listing credit for all types of listings or only auction and features??
It isn't clearly stated. Anybody know the answer?

What about BIN? Are they free. I says in the body that they are, but in the fine print at the very bottom, it says you pay for them!!

This is a quote from the description.
on August 15-16, 2006 and you will receive a credit to your account. In addition, you get FREE Gallery on your Auction-stle & Fixed Price listings during the promotional period. If you are listing in the Auction-style format, a BIN price will be defaulted for you. If you would not like to use a BIN price, you must zero out the BIN price in that field. During this promotion, you will receive the BIN for free (in the form of a credit).
So isn't that FREE!!

No. It means you have to pay for it, and if you are lucky, they give you a credit. They are NOT refunding your money. And if with eBay's past history, good luck receiving that credit.

There is no way I would waste my time on this --- and the credit???? Why a credit? My eBay bill is a mile long each moth and I am sure I do not want to have to track down the proposed credits given a month from now for items launched today.
I only have a few store items , and they will stay there.
I am the slumlord of an unsuccessful eBay store. It has never been profitable for moi.
What I ballyhoo is only auction worthy (I guess)
The stores were heralded by eBay as the cats' meow only a few months back .
Now it appears they are a thorn in eBays' side.
Flip-flop, flip -flop..........ooooooooooooooo what does that bad taste remind me of?

I'm in a really funny position right now. I'm leaving for vacation Friday, so I need to end all my store items today or tomorrow.
As far as they know, I'm protesting. Only we need to know I'd have cancelled them all anyway.

Dr. A - Are you closing your store for good? If so you don't have to cancel each and every store item you have. When you cancel your store subscription all your store items listing's are automatically ended. All my listing's vanished the moment I canceled my store subscription.

No, I was going to use Vrane and "Bomb" them.
I suppose I could just put them on vacation, since they will expire while I'm gone anyway.
But cancelling them will send at least a small message eBay's way.
I'm not actually closing my store, but things will be a lot smaller when I get back.

Well....I closed my store on July 9th before the infamous "Cobb letter" so I have none to send to auction.
What I can tell you ( and I am NOT NOT absolutely NOT defending EBay) that as I reside in Canada and list on the .com site I have been eligible for EBay.ca promos in the past.
They have all been done on this basis of a credit received in the following 45 days. I can tell you that the credits have been applied to my account prior to the time they stipulated. I do not think you will have a problem receiving the credits. Yes...you do have a higher bill to pay in the month of the promo but I guess I got used to it
knowing that it would be less the next month.
Now, this one more interesting...I can't remember the exact time but within the past 3 months EBay.ca had a very similiar promo:-
Send Store items to Auction. FREE insertion and FREE Gallery. This was run in conjunction with a 10 or 15 cent (memory fails me) listing day that was on both .com & .ca.
I must say I did very well with both running at the same time.

PS...I am not saying I agree with the accounting method used...just telling you that I DID receive my credits.
