Reformat the disk. Pay attention to how many bad sectors the format marks out. You may have a diskette without enough useable space on it.

I put in a brand new formatted disk., tried 3 of them. All give me the same error.
I really know very little about all this.

I'm by no means a computer guru but I have had this problem from time to time when trying to save very large ammounts of data to a rewritable CD or DVD. For some reason (unknown to me) I get the same type of error. What I found as a work around is to put all the data you want to place on the disc into a file and I then copy or move the file to the disc. I never have a problem copying a large file. Don't know why but it works for me.
Just create a file in "My Documents" and then transfer everything you want to put on the disc into this file. Then just copy the file to the disc.

gosh go buy one of those usb drives that saves it to a thingy big enough to fit on your keychain.
we had some disks and half the time I couldn't get them to format.
for $29.00 or less you can solve your problem.
for 71.00 you can get Memorex® USB 2.0 TravelDrive™ Original, 2.0GB at Office Depot. I know I've seen smaller ones for 19.00 or less.

If it's an older computer then the problem is most likely a dirty floppy disk drive. Buy a 3.5-inch floppy disk cleaning kit and use it to regularly clean the floppy drive. Problem solved.
The giveaway was that both the brand new formatted disks and older disks both failed in the same drive - ergo the drive is at fault and not the media. Deductive reasoning has it's uses especially in computer maintenance.

Yep, buy a USB flash drive. There great little gadget's. I just picked up 3 of them the other day at Staples. They had the 512MB ones on sale for $15.95. Nice thing is that data writes to them so much faster then a disc, and their small size.

I will definately need one of those.
I do not think the drive is bad, it is a 2 yr old Dell laptop. I only use the drive to save inventory....
I do thank you for your help!

Here is what just happened:
I put in another new disk. Clicked SAVE.
It seemed to work OK. I got happy and added another word and clicked Save again. This time I got a msg: Disk Is Full. Data Not Saved.

Save the file to your computer first then go find the file and right click and then choose send to" then 3 1/2" floppy, A.
Like mike said. if it still errors out see if you can put a floppy with information on it in the drive and see if it opens it ok to see if floppy has problems. That error message only comes up for me if the file is bigger than the floppy space. After saving it to your PC right click it the file and see what the properties say is the size of it.
