Is anyone buying labels through PayPal for shipping? And if so, are you shipping a high volume? I don't see how you could be.
I hadn't looked at PP Shipping prior to today, but I had an item on my desk that the buyer had paid for with a check. Stupidly, I hadn't put the buyer's name on it. The payment record was off in a pile that I didn't feel like digging through, so I clicked on the "Create Shipping Label".
All I can say is that if you adore making selections in pull-down boxes, clicking radio buttons and filling in fields, PayPal Shipping is right for you. There were eight (8!) decisions you had to make on the first page alone. That was before you got to the Confirm and Pay pages.
Contrast this with my beloved USPS Shipping Assistant, where all I have to do is either enter the buyer's address or find it in my address book. Weight remains constant (2 oz) for most things, as does service class, so I don't have to change that. Click Submit -> Display Label -> Print, and I'm done.
I ran into a seller I know at the post office yesterday. She was shipping 12 flat rate PM packages of shoes. She said it had taken her 10 hours to prepare her packages. I just can't imagine that. Maybe she's using PP Shipping. I will have to ask.

If they pay by Paypal everything is pre-filled even the weight of the package.I type in Thank You in the message box and print in secs...I love it.To Me much better than the USPS Assistant,But I agree checks and money orders can be a pita because you have to fill in the name, address, type shipping, weight, insurance etc. etc.

Here is my take on it.
I use PP Now use to use stamps.com software. I have also used the USPS website shipping you talk about. I think the USPS shipping is ok I don't like to have to enter the address. cause first I have to find the corresponding address either in email or by looking at the individual auction the details page or find the details in my ebay click that link copy all the information, luckily I have a little program that keeps what I copy in a list and I can copy the name, address, city state, and zip code to be pasted into the corresponding form at USPS ----- BIG hassel. I still have to enter the weight, how to send etc bla bla bla. Also I don't like typeing addresses I always copy paste.
Now if I go to PP to create my shipping labels I just click the ship button next to the payment or from ebay if payment was made by mail I click create shipping label. Bam I am taken to page where I enter the weight choose the shipping and BAM I have my label. I don't have a problem with this page at all and is WAY faster than finding the address first copying it so I can paste it at USPS shipping and still have to choose the way to ship and enter weight etc. At least with Paypal I have the address already ( I do confirm it with an envelope if necessary on mailed payments yada yada yada) At PP I only have to choose 3 things most times plus they send them notice of shipment without also having to enter an email address for them. So I prefer Paypal. My options are preset at paypal but don't know what 8 decisions you have to choose on first page. I only have to do type of shipment the another box for how like flat rate or envelope package or large etc. then do the weight box. Ever now and then I do a change for insurance on preselected options I have set. And I paste a short note in message thanking them click confirm page the get my label. Very simple to me but that is what I have gotten use to. I use to do Stamps .com and it cost me plus had to enter address but it was at least in one complete paste operation unlike click and ship for addresses.
Now you want to get jiggy with shipping just go to Fed Ex you have to do major choices for that page it is a major headache.

fluff is correct in stating the ease in using USPS Shipping Assistant. I have used both PayPal, and/or the USPS site in the past, and I prefer Shipping Assistant. I just hope the USPS continues to support SA.
An added advantage of not using PayPal labels is the discount when buying postage. It adds up to a decent savings during the year.

I use it and love it. It also makes it easier because all the shiping info is with ebay/paypal in case of any claims. I also like the fact that I am paying for postage with the actual funds on Paypal payments

Do you mean that it makes you feel good to be paying for the postage with part of the payment you received from the buyer?
Okay. I guess. People who sell more are generally concerned with keeping their costs as low as possible.
Are you aware that there are postage discounts available to you, anywhere from 1% to as much as 30%?
The 1% is available to Costco members, who can buy rolls of 39 cent stamps for slightly less than $39.00. No tax.
You can get as much as 20% or 30% off face value when you buy from a philatelic scrap dealer. These are professional stamp sellers who buy large collections, which invariably seem to come with quantities of postally-valid but uninteresting U.S. commemorative stamps. The stamp dealers just want to blow them out, so they sell them for less than face value and still make money.
