....well actually only vote once. I personally don't feel this is OT because I believe this elections has the potential to impact all our lives whatever our political affiliation or lack thereof.
Going to take a camera cell phone to the polls even though I know that most of any hanky panky will not be visible. I am not by nature a conspiracy theorist but I know the possibility is there.

Voted early in Texas where the hanky and panky are both running for Gov.
If panky wins, I think we will change the state motto from Friendship to: In Texas it's Kinky...ha!

Actually my husband is a big Kinky fan. I am sure he has the only "Kinky for Governor" bumper sticker in Maryland. I know he is going to be disappointed at the end of the day.

I'm in Florida, and as some may have heard, the race for Gov has gotten ugly. I was speaking to my mom this morning about it, and it's like she said ... There was so much mud-slinging going on that it's hard to determine who would be the best person for the job. Instead of focusing on what they could do for us, they focused on berating their opponent. It makes it hard to decide...

If I lived in Texas, I would vote for Kinky....
And I agree about the mudslinging... It's disgusting and makes it difficult to make a choice. I'd much rather hear what they are going to do to make things better, both locally, in the state and for the nation as a whole.

The lines at my polling place were the longest I have ever seen at an off year election. Not sure if it was because there were more people or that voting was slower. Maybe both. I had no problem with the touch screen machine although the Diebolt logo gave me chills. Some voters seemed to be having problems since they were at the machines a long time and the election judges were clustered around them giving advise.
I noticed a small sign on a pole that said you had to make a selection within 2 minutes of putting in your card or your card would be returned and you would have to cast a provisional ballot. I pointed it out to my husband and several people in line said they had not noticed it.
Now to watch the results.....

There were more people at an off hour (2:30 PM) than I am accustomed to, especially given that it's a non-Presidential election. Whatever the outcome (although I strongly hope for a Democratic landslide) it will be good news for this country if more people vote.

Lucky you, Photo, that your vote counts this time around!
My vote won't count in the state of Utah for years to come. All I can do is cancel my hubby's vote, which I do very-so-gladly!

I'm very happy. I don't want to gloat, and I promise not to, other than to say that it has been very interesting watching Republicans and their sycophants (i.e., Fox News) spin and spin: [paraphrase] "The election wasn't about Iraq, because otherwise people would not have re-elected Joe Lieberman." Makes surface sense, but he's been around a long time, Lamont was in a bit over his head, and Joe hadn't sounded so very pro-war lately.
Anyway, it was a happy 24 hours.
PS Rumsfeld's resignation was the cherry on top (not that Gates is a treat his own self).

Yeeeehaw. That's all the "gloating" I'm going to do. It's sobering to see my own party suddenly getting some power. Having been in politics myself, I know that when your feet hit the floor in the morning, you're saying to yourself, "Uh oh, now what?"
Minimum wage and stem cell research seem to have a fighting chance now. Here are my happy faces:
