Well, they are going to do it, hopefully they will get the bugs worked out before it comes to the US. Get ready to kiss 100% positive feedback goodbye, we won't be able to please everyone on all 4 criteria. One good note is they will be archiving feedback more than 24 months old.

"eBay will launch Feedback 2.0 in pilot markets outside the US over next month. The new system will allow buyers to rate transactions on item description, communication, shipping time, and shipping & handling charges. eBay will also archive all but the last 24 months of users' feedback history. Members' total scores will remain, but the percent will be based only on the last 2 years of activity.

Feedback 2.0 system will be rolled out in France, Italy, the UK, Australia, Poland and India. eBay said the system might be changed as they go along as it is tested, and before it is rolled out to eBay's largest sites - the US and Germany."

They already tested here. From the way it was setup, the additional questions were optional and not mandatory. Plus, the questions didn't affect your feedback. It was setup so that only the seller could see it so that the seller could make any "improvements". I don't understand this "Members' total scores will remain, but the percent will be based only on the last 2 years activity." What does THAT mean?

Hi Diane! It is my understanding that although total feedback will remain as it looks today, your percentage will be based only on the sellers most recent 24 months of experience/performance.
Using myself as an example, in seven years of eBaYing, I have received 27 negative feedback (I have left over 500 negs). I have approx 8000 feedbacks total. According to current eBaY calculations, my feedback percentage is 99.5%. Under the new program, the system would look at my last two year feedback history in order to calculate percentages. Since I have received 4 negs in the past two years with over 4000 feedback received, my NEW percentage would be more like 99.9%.
make more sense?
imho, that aspect of the four part rating system is not so great! Too many new eBayers that want their hands held every step of the process (got your payment, payment has cleared, package has been shipped, etc!) I have many returning buyers that would find that mailbox clutter annoying and spamful!

I just listen to the 2007 eCommerce video and this was the last thing they addressed. I don't really like much of what I heard but the FB 2.0 was the worst. I have 100% FB and I know I'll get a negative someday - I would hope that 8 years on ebay with a 100% would count for more. Maybe they will allow sellers to keep all the FB if they want.

IMO if they do this and require you to fill out all those specifications we will be getting less feedback as the buyers will think it too much trouble to give feedback. Same for sellers leaving it... It is already at the point that a lot of buyers don't give feedback and I am thinking they just don't want to bother with that process. It is also known that there are a lot of sellers that don't leave feedback until it is recieved.

Would it not be funny if they started halting your buying until you have left all your feedback that is not left say after a period of 45 days. And the same for sellers not to be able to list until all feedback is taken care of at end of the 45 days. Maybe both should be 90 days as ebay has it set for being able to leave feedback just so as to cover those elusive lost shipments etc. But we all know answer to that one.go over like a lead balloon.
