rite Glassgirl. I am never sure what the MF is for. I would more likely direct it to DR. DooDoo the first dentist who worked on Tom.

UPDATE:

Sorry to be so tardy, but the MF pain was really giving me a super MF headache last night, and just wasn't up to doing a MF update...

Anyhoo...

Had TWO appointments yesterday:

1) PAIN CLINIC: he switched me to MScontin + a few PERCOCETS for breakthrough pain. Ugh... Last time I tried MScontin, it really wrecked my FIDEL-TUMMY, but he wants me to buy the BRAND NAME (Kadien), which he feels has less side effects than the generic...I don't know? All I know is that the MF PAIN added to my normal run-of-the-mill misery has become too much, so, I'm ready to try just about ANYTHING (except for that MF PATCH)!

2) MF CLINIC: finally saw the surgeon who specializes in TMJ procedures, and he & his entourage of residents & fellows did a pretty thorough w/u...

Last FRIDAY I was seen at the MF CLINIC & they ordered a MRI, but they never called me with an appointment, and you have to WAIT for them to call YOU...So, of course, the first thing the DR yesterday said was: "where's the MRI?" And, of course, I replied: "Who's on FIRST?"

This is what I hate about SHANDS: the DRs are GREAT, but the getting to them is terrible. That appointment last week was basically a waste of time, since they scheduled me when the TMJ specialist WASN'T there, so I just had to COME BACK yesterday, and yesterday's appointment was kind of a WASTE as the MRI hadn't been done because they never called me with an appointment...

Oi! To make a long boring story short, he wants the following DONE before I return to see him in two weeks...

1) MRI (duh!)
2) I start low dose FLEXERIL
3) Go see a dentist (I have appt THURS at 8am) about that back molar. The MF guy is leery to do anything because that tooth still bothers me even though 3 dentists have x-rayed it (Dr Schmuck/ JAX EMERG DENTAL/ Endodontist) and can't find anything wrong with it! So, the MF surgeon advised that if again on THURS the Dr can't find what is causing the pain in that tooth (which was the ORIGINAL PROBLEM way back on 11/30), to HAVE THE DAMN THING PULLED...

So, that's where things stand now...PLUS, I have to go out & buy some BABY FOOD this morning...Ooooh! YUMMY!

I am glad to hear about the flexeril. It won't hurt your tummy. I had two teeth on the bottom and top that were killing me yesterday. It felt like I had a cavity or something. Today, the pain is gone.

Now about eatting: THis is a partial of my NO list when things are bad:

NO Salad
NO French bread or sandwiches
NO apples
NO GUM <---Big No No !
NO Steak or pork chops
NO Nuts

Yes items are:

Cereal
Soups <--- of course
Eggs <--- Any kind
Pureed anything

When I start feeling a little better

Cooked veggies
Chicken with potatoes or rice or noodles
Tortillas, burritos etc

(Ok, so I can't spell GRIN)

Thanks for the MF update. Thats too bad they didn't schedule for the MRI and call you about it. Hope the Flexerel kicks in and helps. You are getting good advice menu wise from the EO.

generic versus the brand name.

I've had patients swear that generic lasix is nothing like the real thing. They could even show me the results.

I do know that generic loratab is nothing like the brand name.

so IMHO you might want to try what they're suggesting.

If you didn't know this before - when a doctor or whatever gives you a prescription to be filled - say 30 tabs....you can have whatever amount you want filled....like 5 tablets. You don't have to have the whole fricking prescription filled just because it says so. You don't want to have it filled until and unless you know it works and that's what you need/want.

ps pull the tooth and get it over with.

geez, nobody is going to see a back molar.

you do know tom that most doctors look at the medication(s) you're on and say I should be so lucky. so they are probably a little biased to not give you another pain prescription.

GG:

I never ask anybody EXCEPT my pain clinic physician for the pain meds -- and that RX has to be renewed every month...

The regimen I was on lasted about 18 mos, but, especially with the addition of the face pain, no longer works...

Which is why he changed my regimen to the Kadian 2X/day + 3 PERCS for breakthrough...

GG:

YES, that's what the MF SURGEON recommended -- if nobody can determine why that back molar has hurt X 11/30, just PULL IT, which SHOULD solve that problem...

OTOH: i don't know anymore what to do...

I just hope the KADIAN works without making me puke -- I'll start it tomorrow am...

Tom If your have a hand mixer you can use that... you can find one of those or the single shaft mixers at any thrift store cheap. It would give you another menu option. Fruit is an important part of a daily diet.Thats my well duh statement

I have been on baby food diets in the past. PUUUTTTT!!! were they awful. Don't know how babies stand the stuff. Then again it was many years ago and they may have improved the stuff. I really suggest you get a blender, maybe from the thrift store. You should be able to make veggies and fruit that taste like the real stuff.

Hope you are zeroing in on the cause of your problem and will be feeling good soon.

You can pulverize almost anything to baby food consistancy with a blender. Some times, you need to add a little liquid. I broke my jaw in the 7th grade and went 12 weeks with my mouth wired shut. Favorite blender food: Hormel's canned tamales, watered down with milk, extra chili powder added to compensate. OK - you can all let out a collective yechhhh!

Oh, geez, GG, I've had 10 K-stones in the past, so I can really empathize with yer Yorkie!

Those suckers are amazing in their ferocity! Only good thing fur a HUMAN (me?) is that ya can RUN to the ER & they give ya a SHOT...Usually, after a few hours, the stone passes & the pain is blessedly...GONE!
