Hi everyone, I picked these up at a yard sale about 2 months ago and the lady that sold them to me said that they had brought them back from Okinawa in the early 70's. They are hand blown with pontil marks on the bottom. Any other name beside flower planters come to mind ?

Finally something I know about. I lived in Okinawa for 5 years. The first item (the green glass ball) is a float...the Okinawan fishermen put them on their fishing nets. We collected them (they'd wash up on the beach sometimes) and I have one myself. Not sure about the 2nd item...looks like a planter.

Thanks blueyes29 ! So a float can have a opening in the top ? The green one you call a float looks cut , it has a rough opening. The other has a smooth rim.

Thanks pixiamom. I think they most likely made these the same way they did floats then just cut the tops off to make them planters for the tourist to buy. Was just fishing for another name , planter just sounds so boring

Floats are more rounded as well. The glass is made like a float but as others said these won't float. Could they hold candles? Would look lovely hanging around the patio at night.
