I just got a negative feedback from a NPB!
Auction ended Jan 4 ...I have sent 4 personal emails... no response. I filed for NPB yesterday knowing that 9 times out of 10 it moves people into the paid category. Today I get a neg that says:"not pleasent - did not purchase"
I called ebay for advise then cried. Is it not pleasant to expect to be paid for an item? Should I call her? I'm so bummed...

well, you could ignore it or reciprocate back with a negative then file for removal.
plus if they didn't respond to the NP, then they shouldn't been able to leave a feedback.

Why is eBay not doing something about FB & NPB. This is so unfair to pay a penalty for filing.
If they are worried about not knowing both sides of the story then they should block leaving FB for both parties.

Should I call her?
I can think of a few things to call her...
Why waste your dime dealing with someone who is obviously not worthy of your attention?
Once the NPB is resolved, her feedback will be removed. Til then give the buyer the attention she deserves. NONE!

Calling or emailing her won't do any good.
Give her a negative and file for removal in a few days (that gives her time to stew)

Well I neg'd her and posted a response on my feedback page. I also wrote the following letter to her. maybe honest ernest sadness will move her. I am going to file for a removal after the 7 days is up.
By the way this is my second neg by a NPB ebay burns me up on this issue!
PAM,
I WAS SO STUNNED TO FIND THE NEG YOU GAVE ME! SO STUNNED I CRIED.
IN MY WILDEST I CAN'T IMAGINE WHY YOU DID THIS. I WROTE TO YOU 4 ......4 TIMES! AT ANY TIME DURING THAT TIME YOU COULD HAVE WRITTEN TO ME AND SAID I CHANGED MY MIND OR WHAT EVER. I HEARD NOT A WORD FROM YOU. I HAD TO FILE WITH EBAY IN ORDER TO GET THE MONEY THEY CHARGE ME AS A SELLER WHEN LISTING AN ITEM AND WHEN IT SELLS THEY TAKE ANOTHER CHUNK. IN ORDER TO GET A "FREE" RELIST I HAVE TO FILE WITH THEM. AT NO TIME........ NO TIME
IN OUR DEALINGS HAVE I BEEN UNPLEASANT WITH YOU. HECK, I'M NOT EVEN UNPLEASANT RIGHT NOW!
PAM, I WORK VERY HARD TO MAKE A LIVING ON EBAY. MY HUSBAND ISN'T A DOCTOR, LAWYER ECT... WE NEED MY EBAY INCOME TO LIVE. I BEND OVER BACKWARDS TO PLEASE PEOPLE. EXAMPLE: IF I HAVE OVER CHARGED PEOPLE ON SHIPPING I RETURN THE OVERAGES.
AGAIN I WAS AND AM STUNNED THAT YOU WOULD NEG ME..... OVER A $10 ITEM???
I HARDLY KNOW HOW TO END THIS I REALLY FEEL HURT... AND SAD.

I'd leave her a neg for non-payment....
I'd leave a follow-up comment on my neg...
And I'd move on.....
I got my first less than 6 months ago, from a non-paying bidder.
If others had filed NPB and left feedback, she would have been blocked from bidding on my auction to begin with.

Do we get a free relist when we file a NPB? UGH, I never knew that, how do we take advantage of this, or is it considered a relist and must sell the second time. I thought we only got the FVF taken care of.

Yes you have to sell it second time to get money back just like a relist. Not sure it works if you relist before the FVF is credited. I just never paid attention to that. Funny thing is that when I relist after a NPB I become very happy as the item usually sells for more than the first time. I always thought that weird that I would get double what the NPB had won it for or even more so I never followed up on if I got a refund or not, and really didn't care at that point.

This is an issue that Ebay needs to deal with. It is ridiculous...customers should not be able to leave feedback until they have paid. What a ridiculous thing. I have had that a couple of times...crazy people. I wouldn't let it get you down too much...jerks happen. Just neg her and move on...idiots like that don't last very long on ebay anyways..she will be kicked off and her neg will be removed. Resell your great product who knows you may make even more money the second time around!!

How stupid is that? This person deserves a neg. If you file for removal, that will remove the deadbeats as well. Just file your FVF's and move on.

Does anyone see the flaw in this statment?
Ok, I will spell it out. I receive many payments in the mail. I never mark them paid on ebay. Ever. Does that mean that the buyer cannot leave feedback for me? Even though they paid promptly and the item was sent promptly, this scenario simply will not work.

Sorry that happened to you; I've been equally upset. If she does not respond to the NPB notice, the neg she left will be automatically removed from your tally with a note from eBay that bidder did not respond, but I'm pretty sure yours for her stays. Correct me if I'm wrong.
PS: I do see the flaw, Stone. But I still think there should be a moratorium on ANY feedback while in NPB status.

I think sellers worry way to much about feedback. I have negatives on 2 of my 4 eBay IDs and I do not find that I get higher or more bids on the 0 neg IDs when I run identical items. Also most buyers I have asked never check feedback unless they have a problem with the seller.

I think we all agree with that. Now how can we move their non chalaunt attitude on this issue. If we are the community and we do matter... then listen to your community telling you there is a problem. Seems to me that this is a very easy problem for them to solve with software. If an item # is in dispute... NO feedback of any sort may be posted by either party.Honestly whats so difficult about that. Of the 4 negatives I have on my account 2 of them 50% have been posted by NPBers Now how fair is that to me? It isn't and I am not happy with the pablum that ebay shoveled my way the other day. I was actually crying talking to her and I got now now... don't let this womans actions upset you and have control of you. Well #*!@ her action does have control over my feedback! When buyers look at my page they see it! Sure I posted a rebuttal BIG WHOOP!
Anyway the point is what can we do? How can we petition Meg and Bill on this issue?

This a hot issue for me, also. I have almost 4000+ feedback, 8 negs, 7 from Nonpayers. The last one said, "Price too high,I wasn't going to let you rip me off." Rip her off, it was an auction she bid the item up from 9.99 to 31.00. This item always sells in this range. I filed for FVF and she did respond with "changed my mind." That gave her the right to leave neg feedback, what a crock!! I know this is trivial, but the sytem sucks when deadbeats can leave negs and the seller did nothing wrong.

I'll be happy to add my name to any petition you want to send to Meg and Bill. Can we add "No negative FB from any member with less than 20 FBs"
How many of your negatives came from someone with 10 or less FB?

I was just surfing around and ran across a seller from Britan who posted the following at the very top of her relist:
"This item has been re-listed because of a non paying bidder - milehighbrowneyes(0)
I CAN NOT STOP LAST MINUTE BIDDING BUT IT'S VERY ANNOYING TO ME AND FOR THE UNDER BIDDERS IT MUST BE VERY FRUSTRATING."
I LOVE IT! I'M GOING TO RELIST THAT AUCTION THAT JUST BIT ME AND DO THE SAME THING!
I think its just brilliant. If ebay can't deal with the issue of NPB'rs leaving negative feedback ... we should at least able to make a public statement about NPBs. I wish I had thought of it... but glad I found it!

I like that idea too and have often thought of doing just that.
However, I am a big chicken, for fear Ebay would cancel my auction for making a dead beat bidder public knowledge.
