I tried it for about a year. Sold one item that was never paid for. That was about 4 years ago. Never looked back. Others will tell you the same thing and more.

Run away from that one as fast as you can. The people there, if you can call them people, are very rude. The items usually are total junk and if you place any of your quality items there, they will be over run with worthless sports cards.
I reinforce what the others say, don't waste your time.

When they first came into being (must be over 5 years now) I was somewhat active there. I found out I could sell by using the front page. I had some sort of charter account, where I paid something like 10% of the fees (it is a bit hazy now, it was a long time ago) - It cost $5 to get featured on the front page, but I paid 50 cents. It was only sort of worth it, because it wasn't like I had 100% sellthrough. I got more involved with ebay, and just stopped selling there. I listed a dvd there a few months ago (it was free, and it was actually for my daughter) but after several free relists, nobody even really looked at it.

This is why ebay is a juggernaut that cannot be stopped. It's got a Buffett moat half a mile wide and totally crushes any pretenders.
Which is also why a good way to make money with ebay is to buy the stock. As long as you don't by at it's peak. Buy now and sell covered call options for some instant cash. Or do an option straddle with adequate stops.
