This might be a candy dish or ashtray. the tips protruding are clear. No mark. About 6" in diameter.

Lovely color. Maybe Murano? or the new fake Chinese Murano?

It's kinda hard to tell from one pic. Does it appear to have age? Does it have any shelf wear on the base? Was the base molded or ground smooth?

Looks like what some would call "overlay."

Don't know if it was hand blown.....
Don't know if it was molded or ground as don't know how to tell. No shelf wear that I can see and don't know if it has age.
Do you want more pics??

Gonna need some more pics. Don't think cranberry as that's usually a staining process and it often has very distinct edges to the area stained.

A couple of general guidelines (which can be different in some cases):

You can tell if it's blown if there are no seam marks on the edges at all. Pressed glass can be done in 2, 3, 4 piece forms that will leave tell-tale seams when put together - sometimes you have to look closely and sometimes it's easy to tell.

The bottom is usually the place where you can tell the skills of the craftsman and quality of the piece. It can have a "pontil" or rough spot where it was connected to the glass tube used to blow the piece. That can be ground down and made smooth if the piece deserves it.

Hope this helps a bit.

Thanks Wayne
There are no seams and I see no sign of a pontil but like you say maybe it was ground down. Heres a few more pics

It is similiar to pieces made by Chalet Artistic Glass of Cornwall, Ontario, Canada in the 1950's to early 1970's. The Company was started by Venetian Glass blowers.

Chalet used to 'acid etch' their name into the base and it wears off then later years they used foil labels which almost everyone removed!
If you turn it sideways in the light can you see any remnants of a name on the base?

Glassgrl -- I was just going to say the same thing. Especially when you're pointing out a color, please stick with either white or black bacgrounds (or gray). Adding the blue really makes it tough to tell what that color should be.

Just a word of caution, just because that seller is calling it "Murano" doesn't quite validate it's origin as that of the Murano area of Italy.

It might be Murano-style or "in the style of Murano craftsmen" - just be sure you are clear in your description if you choose to use "Murano" in your title.

It's a common use of many eBay sellers, but it's just not always accurate.
