Yesterday, March 10 I bot a widget and immediately paid for it through PayPal. Today I get an email from EBay saying the following,
The following listing:
2007 NEW GEORGE WASHINGTON DOLLAR COIN ERROR SMOOTH
has been removed from eBay for violating eBay policy. Since this listing was removed, you are not required to complete the transaction.
For a complete list of eBay?s policies, please visit:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/item_allowed.html
I have emailed the seller but no reply and all I get from Ebay is canned messages.
Shall I give the guy a chance to reply or do a chargeback or what do you suggest??
tnx

Go to PayPal, open Resolution Center Tab, there is a link to report your problem. Provide the ebay information that was sent to you.

thanks koz - I have an idea by the email I got from EBay that he copied some else's pic or photo and they cancelled the auction because he has other listings going but I wish he would reply to my email.

The same thing happened to me with software I bought from a UK seller. The seller was upfront and said they were straightening out a misunderstanding with eBay, they were prepared to ship the software. Fine. It arrived in no time, but I didn't try installing it for 2-3 months - BOGUS activation code! I learned my lesson -- from my experience, eBay safety & security people are the brightest in their employee pool and I'll follow their advice next time!

He just emailed me and said there was a problem with the picture and he had the coin ready to ship. I said go ahead and ship.

Good luck! A thief who steals pictures may steal other things. I hope things work out for you, but my guard would definitely be up.

If you are ever in doubt that a seller has the item in question - simply request that they email you a photo showing the item against any newspaper masthead dated today or yesterday. The main online auction site here (in NZ) occasionally requests sellers do this to verify that they have the item in stock (they don't permit drop shippers). Too many sellers were simply copying photos off eBay for items they may or may not have had in their possession - fortunately the eBay picture service watermarks were a dead giveaway!
