"eCRATER is currently down. The server will be pulled out today from the datacenter. It looks like a hardware failure. We apologize for the inconvinience. ETA will be probably at least 48h."
This may be old news. However, I did find this message at ecarter.com interesting.

I just got home from a long day at the salt mines and it's up
forgot to add that it is an online "store" site that alot of us has taken items from ebay that were not selling and listed them there. I made my first ecrater sale a couple of weeks ago. WHOOPEEE

It does not really compete with ebay, it is a store. I have sold 13 items in the last month. Pretty good, considering I started my store in mid January!
I am glad it is back up and I had a sale waiting for me.

The thing I like about Ecrater (although it still does not have enough traffic to replace my eBay sales) is that it offers a thumbprint view of every listing, reducing the need to click through and back again. If eBay is truly serious about enhancing the buyers' experience in their core listings, they would offer gallery for free - I realize they are greedy for the gallery income but believe they would make it up in FVF.

My items come up when I google a specific item. Ecrater must submit this because I don't. Also they are integrated with google check-out (which is free thru the end of 2007), it is an alternative and for me it is great because the items I sell can no longer afford the heavy ebay fees.
