Old SYI form retires in early May
Dear landotters,
This is a reminder that we will be retiring the old "Sell Your Item" (SYI) form in early May. This is the form you see when you click on the "Sell" tab at the top of the eBay home page or when you use "relist "or "sell similar" to list an item.
Our records indicate that you are still using the old form.
We urge you to start using the new form right away. In early May the version you're using will no longer be available.
To begin using the new form, just click on "Start selling with the new version of the Sell Your Item form" at the beginning of the selling process.
The new version makes it faster and easier to list your items. It also has great new features such as more fonts and colors, built-in Help, and reusable templates.
For more information, please read our Helpful Links about the new SYI form at http://pages.ebay.com/sell/syi/
Sincerely,
eBay Product Management Team
Actually I use Vendio...are they saying that the Vendio SYI is old and is Vendio making changes?

I think eBay thinks that we who list through Vendio use the SYI because if we revise through eBay it takes us to the SYI form.
Their program just knows that we have been on some page of the SYI form at some time.

I hope that it is not because Vendio maps to the old SYI form. Last change, I messed up a month's listings.

As we all know who use Vendio they will find out the next day after e-bay shuts it down that they have a problem and 3 months after that they may have a solution. i.e. day light savings, yesterday, sales manager pro etc

Good Question - I would say post this on Vendio Services but looks like they got the hands full. Maybe next week.

For those of you who do depend on vendio, perhaps you need to invest an hour or so into turbolister and import your inventory and become familiar with the program before this takes effect. Never hurts to have insurance and a backup plan, particularly in light of issues surfacing this week with listings. The very same issues that plagued this provider years ago, I noticed.

I guess I'd better do that. I think I remember reading that there were/ are problems with TL2 are those fixed? Is TL1 still available for download?

According to the TL board, there are problems. I've been using it for several months on two computers, and never had any issues. Just remember NEVER to install updates if the program asks you (which it will after you upload a listing). I don't think TL1 is available -- it too probably used the old SYI form.

LOL I just downloaded. Tried to import listings and that failed. Will I be able to attempt that at a later time (I have 9000 active listings but the window said it was attempting to connect to my active listings and went no further after 20 mins so I aborted)? Then it asked me to install updates and I did. Are the updates buggy? Think I should uninstall and then reinstall and not update?

Uninstall, reinstall, and don't download updates. Try importing your closed listings for the last 24 hours and see if that works.

thanks Birgit - I uninstalled, installed and it looks like it is importing my "solds" last 7 days. Perhaps once it "recognizes" me I can upload the active listings.
I haven't used ebay listing tools since Mr Lister, so I suppose I have a large learning curve. I read the first page on the TL board and sounds like there are problems but probably no more than there any where else on ebay.
I am hoping that Vendio has this all under control and that I never actually have to USE TL.
EDIT - Spoke too soon. It seems to stall on item 29. If it can't import one week of solds there's probably no hope of importing 9000 is there?

I started using TL 2 weeks ago. Slowest thing I have EVER seen! It is a serious memory hog, but since I'm working a plan here, I stumbled through.
Used TL to download my listings but found I had to do so many mods to my template that I just used started creating listings from scratch. Eveything was going ok until I installed an update. Updates seem to be flagged daily? what is up with that???
Quickly learned to not allow TL to install updates! One particular update last week wiped out all my shipping and item spec info.
On the upside, I listed new listings during the .20 day. Took 45 minutes total (including edits) for something I used to spend 8 hours on.
I think I will deal with the TL quirks for a bit longer and use the 7 hours I saved to figure out how to get the .csv file to import into excel so I can use it to upload my other sites.

Fingers crossed too that you don't! I find it easy to use, but I never do a "new" listing, always dupe an existing one or make a template out of an existing one, since I know that the old one worked without a glitch. This may not be for everyone, but it's free, and may save you some aggravation down the line.

Import of sold listings froze at 29 - had to forcibly shut it down with Task Manager. SIGHHHH Guess I will try again later - I know that this is the suggested way of revising multiple listings (ie postal increase)by importing, converting to csv file, revising and then uploading but I haven't had the time or fortitude to try it.

I don't usually have any problems with TL, I am currently using TL2. Will TL be affected with the new SYI, surely they will update it and it will work, but what about the items we already have in TL?

Hello,
We received confirmation from the engineering staff on this notice from eBay and Vendio users will not be effected.
The SYI form is upgraded, not discontinued. The old format will be retired, hence the push to these users to switch to the new format. As they list through Vendio, they've probably not visited eBay SYI lately.
When you list from Vendio you are not using any part of the SYI form, as your listings are submitted directly through the API (eBay's back door program for 3rd party listers.)
Your ability to list from a 3rd party listing service will not be effected by this change.
Regards,
Christopher
