I came across an old Matador's cape recently. It's inscribed by the matador to the person it was given to and dated 1968 in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico. The inscription includes the number and name of the bull and the date of the corrida. There are blood stains on the cape, but it is otherwise in nearly perfect condition. The fabric is double, heavy starched cotton.
Ebay search reveals that nothing like this has ever sold as far as I can tell. I've searched for forum discussions, but all I run into are forums decrying this gruesome spectacle and none that discuss it's accoutrements or history. I gotta believe there is some collectibility here, but don't know where to look to get an idea of possible value. Any thoughts?
Yeah, I know it's horrid. I've been to quite a few fights as a kid in Mexico and later in Europe and never liked it myself, so don't start in on me please.
