I was all set to take my PC to town tomorrow for service. So many times, I have just been stuck on one page with no progress. This has been going on for about 3 weeks..maybe more. Just now I was stuck on the "contact buyer"..couldn't get anywhere.
I decided to try out some other websites and my PC just zooms..no hesitation at all..even websites that I have never used. Does any one else notice how slow Ebay is???

No problems here with eBay. I'm browsing eBay with FireFox with javascript OFF on an aging Mac (OS X 10.2.8) using dialup. Very speedy!

Do you clean out your cookies on a regular basis.? Try removing your saved links to ebay. Remove them completely from your computer and get new links that have not been saved.you might also check to see when you last did a defrag. It is important to do this on a regular basis.

I know this sounds crazy, but I found things speed up after clearing cookies and temp internet files, turning off computer and then UNPLUGGING computer for several seconds before starting up again.

Neglus, as I recall you have a new computer. Is this something you have always done?

Hi again. My cookies are cleaned out automatically at the end of the day. I did the defrag thing 2 weeks ago. I really don't know what my problem is. It just seems to be connected with ebay. I may still take it to be serviced. I also need a new spyware remover..one that doesn't run constantly, as that seems to slow things down. Anyone know of a good one?

Ditto to what Neglus said! I don't want to over-generalize here, but I think we women often rely on magic to make things work. When in doubt, I always turn it off and back on. My husband has been astonished at how well this works with all sorts of appliances. (Of course, he, being of scientific bent, always asks me if I read the manual first. Well. . . no. . . not usually! My experience with manuals is that they're just danged frustrating.) Wasn't there a song, "I Believe in Magic"?

Try turning off Java in your browser prefs and see if that helps.

Yes Koz - I have always done that (or at least in the past several years). The new computer is nice and fast but did have problems recovering from hibernation after I downloaded the new Firefox browser. My unplugging routine didn't help then - had to disable the hibernation setting. Now I either shut pc down when I am not using it or turn off the monitor.

Try AVG...they have a free anti-spyware program, just as they have a free anti-virus program. Both work great!

Don't panic. You are 100% correct that it is an ebay problem. eBay has made so many changes to their website and installed so much conflicting java script, that it will often lock up. Another thing it likes to do is block you from inputing any data in the data fields when listing if you list more than a half dozen items or so. The fix for that is opening a new ebay window and closing the corrupt one.

THEIR IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOUR COMPUTER. IT IS EBAY!!!
