I'm sorry if any are offended by our totally off-topic post, but my roomie & I just can't sit back and do NOTHING while this outrage goes on another year...
Yes, I'm a hypocrite, and enjoy a GREAT STEAK now and then (Ralphie is a confirmed CARNIVORE, so he gets a pass on this one), but I really cannot find any justification, not even economic for the perps, for this slaughter...
And YES, I know people suffer in Darfur, etc, but does that mean we have to ignore the suffering of our non-human co-inhabitants of this planet?
Along with whale-murder by the Japanese+Norwegians, this annual atrocity against baby harp seals is just incomprehensibe to me...

Meet Oscar, once the oldest living seal in captivity. He died at age 37 in the Depoe Bay Aquarium. Cause of death: among his post-mortem stomach contents were 186 pennies children had thrown to him.

I'm with you, too, Tom and Ralphie. I feel the same about killing baby cows for the veal meat.
My best friend write grants for that group on the coast that's working to save the oceans from all the garbage being put in it. She's told me stories that would turn your stomach. What they find in the digestive tracts of ocean birds, fish, and mammals is horrible.

I am not that fond of PITA .... they act a little crazed at times.
BUT,I despise the fact that cruelty to animals is sociably accepted.
I do not and would not fur coats.
I do wear leather coats, shoes, skirts and so on. I would think the meat of the animal for those items was used for food.
The animal was not just slaughtered to make my footsies and back look grandee.
