I have a pair of earrings listed for $7.99 or Best Offer.

I have a Best Offer of $8.00.

My husband says I should counter at a higher price. Happens in the real estate market all the time.

Counter at $8.99, then await the counter offer of $8.50. Rinse, lather, repeat...

In the UK this practise is known as gazumping (see Wiki for more salacious details). Note that this only works in a rising market.

Hi Fluff,

Mayhaps they are in the delusional mode of thinking shipping will be included?

Sure, give them a counter offer. For, oh, what? Ten bucks?
