I sell a pattern, they pay on about the 3rd day, fine I send the package out and I was checking today on deliveries and low and behold It was refused 2 days in a row. Don't understand that but I get message from her that is this:
Buyer
Hi, the package came but is being returned because of insufficient postage. Thanks
I reply with this:
I don't understand that at all, I use a digital scale and up the postage printed to the next ounce for safe weight and have never sent a package that did not have enough postage on it. Do you want the pattern or not. I could have gladly mailed you the probable 20 cents if that, required if it was lacking postage. Now it is being sent back and the postage on it is now lost.
OK I could have goofed one ounce at most as every package I sent out this week was 5 to 7 ounces tops. I really could have goofed BUT the point is that they refused package over maybe at most 20 cents. What would you do?
I feel like just keeping it, refunding her money and letting her neg me to which I would reply, they refused package poor communications and I refunded them. I do not want to deal with this type person who would squable over a few cents and that causes me to spend more than the lousy difference that I would have mailed to her in separate envelope or done a partial refund on her PP payment which makes more sense than sending it back refused causing me to spend double the postage.
Yes it is terrible if in fact I didn't get ounces right that it might cost them a little but I would definitely send their money back if it was not correct if they had contacted me. OH well, maybe I know I am honest but she is I guess not so sure.
Oh I already left feedback --my fault as was in hurry to clear everything I had to do up so I could concentrate on our son's wedding Saturday.

OMG she leaves feedback like this : The below feedback is left for one of her buyers that bought 3 items--looks like she sells patterns and buys patterns (clothes patterns) simular to one she bought from me .
Negative feedback rating
PART 1 OF THE CURE FOR YOU: TAKE AN ENEMA
Negative feedback rating
PART 2: TAKE ANOTHER ENEMA
Negative feedback rating
PART 3: TAKE ANOTHER ENEMA - NOW YOU'RE GOOD TO GO!
I am going to refund her money to keep from having PP hassels, I don't want to deal with this kind of nonsense. Just as soon as the package arrives back, unless she beats me to a chargeback, I am tempted to refund tomorrow anyway, the post office states refused and being sent back on their website. Any thoughts?

if you are sure it is on it's way back to you, refund her now and get rid of her. I wouldn't want to deal with someone like that either.

There's a remote possibility the postage glue failed. This happened to me twice, a few years ago, with envelopes that I'd mailed. I knew I'd put stamps on them and remembered which theme the stamps were, but they were lost enroute.
However--this buyer sounds really sick! She should be reported to eBay for . . . something. . . .

I mailed in large envelope with bubble wrap enclosure and printed postage at Paypal so it could not have come off unless the envelope came apart, I use the sticky labels--can't remove them without most of the envelope coming with it, delivery confirmation at USPS says refused on the 27th and also on the 28th, what is with that I thought it took only one refusal. LOL
I have a feeling the postage not being enought is just a load of crap. but I could have goofed by an ounce which I have never done before but might be. Even so I will weigh it again and see what package says when returned etc. Still not going to deal with that kind of person. I will surely get an enema also. LMAO

This is just a thought but I read here once about a buyer being charged more because the package was not thick enough for delivery confirmation first class, so the post office charged the price for priority to the buyer at the door when delivered.

Was it mailed first class? If so I agree with Toasted. If the bubble wrap/foam peanuts or what ever you put in the envelope to make it 3/4 inch are flattened my post office man says they will bump it up to Priority Mail and charge the recipient the difference.

I will see when it arrives back that may be it, maybe it got flattened as it was originally right at the 3/4 thickness. She wrote me and said she definately wants the pattern and it was not me but the post office and she said something about she always uses first class on these, said it was the post office rejects not me and the weight.
So I will probably resend it just take the loss on postage, Since she was nice in her reply.

I didn't think they returned 1st class? Will they charge you the return fee as well?
Why not go to the post office and see if they will let you pay the difference and send it on somehow? Worth a try.

I'm with toasted and photo on this one. Sounds like you didn't quite make the minimun thickness for DC. I would simply send it back to her and eat the shipping loss.
