I was making a "second chance" offer and added a message in the box underneath the "canned" message. Every time, I get the red warning message to "correct" the information. I've checked and double-checked and I have no HTML, quotes or other such stuff. This is the second time this has happened...any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks!

How can we tell unless you show us what you're trying to send?

Sorry, my omniscience is in the shop this week.

I said...The winning bidder informed me he was unable to pay for this item because of a financial emergency. If you're still interested, I'll hold off relisting it until I hear from you. Thanks! I couldn't see anything unacceptable to eBay in this...any guidance? Thanks...

Could it be the ! after thanks, have you tried deleting it? I have had this happen several times, once I have too many words, once, I had written the reply in French to a French buyer, and there was an accent on a letter that caused it.

You can't use quotes. Either double or single quotes. Hint: That means contractions.

You can use apostrophes in contractions. At least most of the time you can. I've also rewritten responses to exclude them on occasion when it's not working the way it's supposed to.

Without realizing it, I just sent a message through My eBay with reference to a 3" chimney. It didn't even burp at the inch mark, but sent it. So perhaps it's an on again, off again thing.

They have taken out the no quotes thing. I used to get red lined every time I had to answer someone about the size of an object. Now the responses all go through with " for inch.

Only time I get the red lines to retry it is ALWAYS the punctuation. Got to where I leave them all out except the period.
