I know some of you like Bizzy and Roadsmith sell craft books. I need help with terminology in light of the new feedback system where buyers so easily leave less that 5.0 ratings in spite of leaving very positive feedback comments.

What is the difference between a book, a booklet and a leaflet? Is it the number of pages? I am English, so my terminology is a bit different, but I need to make sure my descriptions are accurate. I am finding that buyers are leaving lower ratings, I guess because it is anonymous. In checking other sellers ratings, so far I have not find one with all 5.0's in fact, the most I found was 2. I am sure that at this rate, some will be going into negative territory. My worst is shipping time, and there is nothing I can do about it.

Amber, I've sold a few crafts books in the past but not on a regular basis. Trying to think how I'd differentiate among book, booklet, leaflet.

Generally, it seems to me that a leaflet is perhaps 4 - 10 pages, a booklet would be perhaps up to 50 pages. Just guessing here, though.

Why not just delineate in the description something like 7-page leaflet, 25-page booklet, and so forth. I always tell the number of pages in my descriptions anyway.

So. . . I'd put booklet, leaflet, or book in the title, then make sure to specify the number of pages in the description. That way the buyer will have a good picture of what she's bidding on.

A pamphlet is an unbound booklet (that is, without a hard cover or binding). It may consist of a single sheet of paper that is printed on both sides and folded in half, in thirds, or in fourths (called a leaflet), or it may consist of a few pages that are folded in half and stapled at the crease to make a simple book. UNESCO requires a publication (other than a periodical) to have 'at least 5 but not more than 48 pages exclusive of the cover pages' to count as a pamphlet; a longer item is a book.

Pamphlets can contain anything from information on kitchen appliances to medical information and religious treatises. Pamphlets are very important in marketing as they are cheap to produce and can be distributed easily to customers. Pamphlets have also long been an important tool of political protest and political campaigning for similar reasons.

The storage of individual pamphlets requires special consideration because they can be easily crushed or torn when shelved alongside hardcover books. For this reason, they should either be kept in file folders in a file cabinet, or kept in boxes that have approximately the dimensions of a hardcover book and placed vertically on a shelf.
